Don't you own another car to drive if you actually needed more trunk space for skiing or something ? I mean, I use my wife's RX if we are going out with friends, or my Venza if I'm making a Home Depot run. It's a weekend get away car with a significant other, the back seats holds suitcases too 
The idea is to travel longer distances and then back the Vette right up to the snow, get the gear out of trunk, and have at it!
A whole different deal than with the Highlander.
Of course the LC has a back seat useful for storage. My wife travels with a lot of sht! But the vehicle will not accommodate skis unfortunately.
