Very true, but the LC is such an incredible beast that I still can't stop looking up info about it and dreaming up scenarios where it'd make sense for me to buy one

I promise you. I was right there, too, for months. Snug cabin. Only one real cup holder. No obvious spot reserved for a cell phone. Small trunk. Back seat that barely can fit my 8-year-old granddaughter - and only if the front passenger seat is pulled up so far it's actually in the car ahead of me. Dicey touchpad.
Just plain stupid that I was playing with online color configurations and pricing day after day, and spending hour after hour on this message board.
Utterly impractical. It just made no sense whatsoever. My wife would kill me.

I bought it two weeks ago.
Nice. A couple years back when my ego surrendered to my id this plate commemorated my rationalizations.
I really wanted to like/love this car but initially the price was too steep. The used market prices dropped into a better range so it looked possible.
Then I drove several at Lexus events (including on the Laguna Seca raceway) and while the experience was really cool I cannot see owning this car.
The ‘92 SC300 continues to fill the gap (despite lack of raw HP and age related issues) and has it’s own shortcomings and some strengths so will stay pat with the fleet we have for now.
Crazy car to buy. Huge car with no space for four. Huge gas guzzler. Bad infotainment system. High price best looking car I have ever seen. I just bought one
This is our dream car. Been keeping an eye on this car awhile now, the more I know, the more I get disinterested. Here's my list:
1.) Trunk space seems smaller than our RC. We travel a lot and our RC serves us good as we have a lot of stuff.
2.) Lack of cup holders.
3.) No buttons for seat ventilator/heating
4.) And just like the RC, can not install a trailer hitch for bike racks.
These are just my observations. Do correct me if I'm wrong. As beautiful as the car is, taking away these daily functional features is a turn off.
you do get used to the fact that there’s no direct button for the seat ventilator and heater and quickly learn how to navigate the touchpad.
my only problem is that the left thigh bolster frame Bar pinches into my left hamstrings after very short distances, and I have to keep shifting my weight on the seat towards the right
-The downshifts in automatic mode when coming to a stop are a little rough. Solution: get used to it, or put it in manual mode
- Four person cabin space may seem limited but I am 6 foot tall and can sit behind myself in my usual driving position. The hard part is only getting in and out, and the key is for the rear passenger to sit with legs apart, knees on each side of the front seat, then it works quite well. of course still not a proper daily 4 seater but nowhere near as bad as people think when looking around it the first few times. This applies to coupe only of course, the cab's rear seats are completely unusable
- The car is quite heavy and the engine doesn't produce a lot of torque at low rpm so it can feel sluggish moving off the line. The LC500h differential swap does help but the nature of the engine and weight of the chassis is as such and this is just a characteristic of the car
- The accelerator pedal feels a little offset to the right to me. It doesn't line up with the driver's seat as much as I would like. Seated in the middle of the seat, my right leg feels like it's pointing slightly in the direction of the right front wheel (note: I drive a RHD car, it might be different with a LHD car which I am assuming most people in the forum drive). You get used to it quite quickly though but the slightly skewed seating does put more wear and tear on one seat cushion side bolster more than the other side. Even a year old, you can see the leather on the right bolster more crinkly than the other side which is near pristine. Speculation: the pedals are slightly offset outwards because of packaging constraints since the engine and connected massive gearbox are sitting pretty far back, and I suspect the transmission is eating into central footwell space
- The seat ventilation being in the menus doesn't bother me so much because I never use the heating function and just leave the seat ventilation fans on auto (I didn't get good results with the climate concierge) so that part is fine. occasionally though, I do like to drive with the windows down, with the AC fans running, but the AC compressor switched off. Unfortunately, I have to dive into the menus to access the compressor switch, I wish we had a hard switch for it (I never use the fans off hard switch, so its completely redundant to me). My car also has apple CarPlay and I must say I would probably list the fact that I didn't have it as a gripe if I had an earlier model. apple CarPlay is such a game changer and it would be impossible for me to live without this creature comfort
- The Alcantara seat inserts are grippy as hell. This is mostly a good thing but when I'm wearing certain types of clothing, my nicely tucked-in dress shirt gets yanked out when I get onto the seat because of how grippy it is and it's slightly annoying lol. I honestly wish I was able to spec the regular base full leather seats in my car
- Center console lid mechanism seems a bit loose fitting to me, you can rattle it slightly when you try moving it when it is shut, and it is noticeably cheaper feeling than everything else in the cabin, by quite a large margin
Really dug deep to nitpick everything I could. Don't mistake me for not absolutely LOVING this car though. If I wrote the stuff I liked about it, this post would be 10000 words long
Here are my cons:
1. Terrible clearance for offroading
2. Terrible capacity for hauling large boxes
3. Too much attention and compliments
4. V8 only gets 18mpg
5. Can't tow a trailer or boat
I have only ONE con - When you apply the brake the throttle is cut off. I am a trail braker, but not with the LC Lexus had a service campaign after a crash that killed folks because a mat wedged under the gas pedal on a loaner in Sept. 2009. The campaign issued applied to my previous 2008 ISF, modifying the ECM to cut off the gas when the brake was applied. I never had that done. However, my LC came from the factory so equipped AFAIK only Toyota did this

This may sound strange, but for weekend toys, I ONLY buy completely and utterly impractical coupes, because they're driven maybe once a week.
My daily SUV fulfills the practical aspects for everyday use.
