Sound system
Hi, I’m disappointed in the sound. Rear speakers have very little volume. Did anyone put in aftermarket equipment and change the rear speakers and add another amp? If so what did you purchase and are you happy with the new sound?
Whats your audio source? If you arent using lossless audio like FLAC files the sound wont be great even with an audio system upgrade. I find the LC's audio to be great when I use FLAC audio and adjust my equilizers on my phone's media player.
If you're wanting super strong boomy bass however, you might need aftermarket. To me heavy bass drowns out the other audio frequencies so I avoid it, which makes the LC's reference audio system pretty darn good for my needs.

It's strange how different the sound of the ML system is across the Lexus platforms, especially when it's designed and tuned to the particular vehicle. I personally think the LC's sound system is the best of what we currently own with the LX coming in second. The LC sound is also interesting with the top up/down adaptation, they seem to have got it right. The GX is anemic, even after adjusting the sound as per previous posts on the ML systems (probably worse than our RX's sound system). But just my opinion...
The short version is to start by ensuring the surround sound function is turned off. Then crank each of treble, mid and bass up towards the top of the scale. Adjust from there. Made a dramatic difference in my car - they set it up in a super-weird way. BTW, I'm assuming OP has the ML system...

The sound system in the LC is nothing special, including the Mark Levinson. If you’re disappointed, that makes sense. Personally, I never listen to the stereo — just road noise and exhaust note for me.
I would recommend starting with an amp upgrade as the speakers are actually pretty okay. The amp is the underwhelming part. If you still are disappointed, then think about speakers.
While it’s technically true that FLAC/WAV is much better than lossy media like MP3, it’s extremely unlikely that is the cause of your disappointment — at least with car audio.
