Default Door Brackets

Ordered the new door striker plate brackets intended to increase the stability of the frame mentioned in the thread started by Flowrider (have trouble searching this forum w my phone).

Got an email from Bell Lexus requesting my VIN and the reason for my order. They say, "The brackets you ordered – 69410-11010 are starting to come in to the distribution centers however Lexus is putting them on a manual release for us to get them. What we need is the VIN for your vehicle and the reason for replacement. If you can provide us with that information we can attempt to get them released for your order."

Hope my justification is acceptable. Told them I have a convertible and want the intended increase in stability. I ordered from the dealer in Scottsdale AZ.

This is the thread you mentioned:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lc-...ker-plate.html

I developed a relationship with the parts manager at my local Lexus dealer. I was not asked for my VIN or the reason I wanted the strikers. Although he knew the reason, because I volunteered the info before I ordered.

Does seem odd. As I recall the rigidity improvement was mentioned as the reason when Lexus themselves announced them for 2026's. ????

Can you notice some increased stability? For me, even if it's only slight, and I may not notice it, I'll feel better. Besides, it's a mod I can easily accomplish.

Bell Lexus received word from Lexus my request for new door striker plates was denied and my order cancelled saying approving release of striker plates for MY2026 only.

Actually, I doubt the new strikers provide much of an increase in rigidity. Sure, the door is a large section that can flex, esp in the convertible model, but I doubt I could notice any difference. For $35 each, I was willing to try them.

Since it's such a plug and play easy upgrade at low cost, has to be a policy to protect 2026 uniqueness; Or issue with physically suppling demand from pre2026 owners wanting to cover that last nth degree of improvement Lexus strove for. Still a bit odd.

I think this is rediculous, a manufacturer refusing to supply an updated part that may improve on the same part on an older model, this is plain contempt for the customer..
Exactly one of the reasons why I would never buy a Ferrari or such, the selling company acting like it is a granted favour that you are allowed to buy from them.. get lost, I am the guy buying, spending my money, , be happy that I want to do that..

Considering 2026 production isnt over and they likely ordered only a slim margin of these from their supplier to cover production, it may be as simple as ensuring enough supply for remaining cars.

If that is the case it will likely be a difficult part to replace in the unfortunate event of an accident. Luckily given its location, size, and makup it would take quite a serious hit from the side to damage it (I would imagine anyway?).
