Default Lc500 door handle leaks

I’ve added another Lexus to my collection a 2020 LC 500. I’m aware that the doors let water leak, I actually saw the video of the water shooting right through the door. My question is, is the water going through where the door handle lever mechanism goes through the panel, or or is the water intrusion coming from around the outside face plate of the door handle? I think I’ve got an idea how to solve this problem. Richard as always thank you for any help.

Yes. But again where is water specifically entering?. Yes we can all see the guy squirting the door with a hose, but do we know where the water is actually entering in? The whole door handle edge? Or from underneath the door handle then bypassing into the door. I guess i’m saying i wanna know exactly where the water enters. The video goes on and shows the water coming from the other side. That’s great, but where is the water exactly entering. One cannot solve the problem if you don’t know where the problem is occurring other than generally saying, the door handle leaks

That person is spaying the exterior door handle with water. You wouldn't go through a car wash with the door handles extended, that person seems to be causing the problem.
The small amount of water that can enter the door while the exterior handle is retracted shouldn't be a problem.

Water normally leaks into doors via the gaps around the door glass, on most cars.
Water drains from the doors through drain holes at the bottom of the doors.

thank you. You mention “ Normally & On most cars” There are other vehicles with pop out handles that do not have this problem? I am still researching where exactly is this water intrusion. Never heard of water intrusion around the window seals? If that were the case, I would think at times you have water residue appearing on the windows themselves, or maybe even steam vapor in the vehicle? If it is a situation where the actual mechanism is getting wet But why aren’t the power windows, etc. being affected as well if water is being introduced through the windows.

After replaying the video couple times you will notice that the young lady has a door window down and is spraying the water directly on the door handle. So now I can see it’s not the window seals. It is the door handle itself. You notice in the video with the young ladies hand is inside Overlapping inside the door itself, therefore she is not testing the window seals. The window is down in this video. We’re getting closer?

Why haven't you popped off the doors interior and checked it yourself? I highly doubt you are going to find the answer you are looking for without closer inspection in person.

Yes, she is spraying water onto the door handle.

The point about the door seals is that water gets passed the beltline moldings goes unnoticed, it simply drains out the bottom of the doors. Water that gets passed the exterior door handle should also simply drain from the door. Doors are mostly empty cavities and should not retain water and steam up the windows.

Spraying water on an extended door handle is asking for trouble, why would anyone do that? If you lift or pull the exterior door handle on a common car, you will see gaps around the mechanism entering the door. There are foam seals around the openings, but door handles are not waterproof.

Reviewing the video, the eBay pictures, and my own car, I’m seeing three openings: one for the lock cylinder, where the water resistance is unknown, and two small square drainage holes in the bottom of the black plastic tray, one on the hinge side of the handle and the other on the lock cylinder side.

Driver Side two openings shown

Lock cylinder installed passenger side all three openings shown

My driver side (above picture is passenger side)

Great photos. These are big help. I’ll pass along my effort trying to stop water intrusion

It appears to be one of the two drain holes I mentioned. When I shine a flashlight into the hole, I can see the infrared paint on the door.
