What temperature for Transmission Fluid Check?

Default What temperature for Transmission Fluid Check?

Hi everyone. Does anybody know what the correct temperature is i should check for the level after changing out the transmission fluid?

104°F to 113°F on other Toyota transmissions I've worked on that take WS fluid so yours is likely the same.

What are you going to use to measure the temperature? I'm going to do it when I reach around 60k and bought OBD fusion but just curious as to what other are using.

Believe it or not, I use the Hyper Tough HT 500 Bluetooth scan tool from Walmart.

The fluid volume difference in the pan of a typical 9qt transmission, based on temp, is about 3 ounces between 70f and 120f. As long as it’s between “room temp” to “not scalding” - the actual temperature is irrelevant. ATF volume changes very, very little by temp. If you don’t have a tool to check temp, don’t waste $$ on one. And if you have one, it’s really not important to waste time on it (I do not).
