Does dark chrome package have darker tailight lenses?
Anyone know if the dark/black chrome package have a darker tint (less silvery) on the lenses of the taillights? I know that the bezels/garnishes/mouldings around the lights are darker, but not sure if the actual taillights are darker?
No they are not. Same tail light. It may appear darker because it's reflecting less light from the surround vs. the silver/chrome one.
Here is a side by side, mine has the bespoke dark trim, silver one does not. Looks identical to me. The tail lights change a lot in their appearance because of their design, depending on the lighting and angle and reflections they pick up.
It looks like there is a different part number for the black package -
I believe is like that because the taillight unit comes preassembled with some part of housing, so when you buy the light, you are getting that piece of trim/housing with the assembly. So they have designation for it w/ darker trim vs. with gray trim. The plastic lens itself should be exactly the same though.
The tail light and the trim around it are only available as separate pieces
I wonder what is different. I can all but guarantee it's not the LENS itself. It would make no sense for Lexus to make a darker lens on the tail light because of the trim surrounding it, especially without advertising it is an aesthetic change?
That is just the angle of the camera. When you look at the tail lights from standing height and parked on black pavement, they reflect as almost blacked out.
Other angles and surfaces and they look nearly white. part of the beauty of the tail light.
I've been side by side parked with lots of different LCs, there is no difference in the lens shade. If by some miracle there is, it is not something that is noticeable - like at all.
Here are some examples. In the first couple pic, you'd think I have 2 different tail lights.

To your point, the front headlights also appear identical, but have two versions, Black (#8114511100), Chrome (#8118511150)
