Those 2026 Inspiration Series cars are looking less exclusive by the day...

Toyota released their 2025 sales numbers. Good Car Bad Car may take a while to update, so I used Toyota’s figures and edited the GCBC chart accordingly.

Nearly 15k sales in the US to date. Seems awesome until you realize GM cranks out 20k+ C8s a year. Some value exclusivity, but personally I'd love for a car as awesome as the LC to see 10k/year or more sales. Get more of the masses behind this amazing vehicle!

But compared to the SLK 55, the LC is downright common lol.

They sold a 500h in December!!!

Looks to me as though possibly a majority of the deliveries in December (and November?) were Inspiration Series cars. The perceived vs actual rarity of that sub-model is interesting...

Yeah, it aint rare at all within the LC total sales. Which makes dealer ADMs of 20k quite ridiculous.

In reality, a Bespoke build is more rare than an inspiration series.

Maybe in the early years but I'm not so sure lately. It seems like ANY of these arriving as dealer inventory are bespoke builds anyway (if not inspiration anyway). Perhaps bc dealers think certain specs will sell better? But the LC is so rare they'll sell just about any that come in I'd imagine. I've been bird ******* cars at dealers for the past year or so and there were far more bespoke than not. In fact the one I am HOPEFULLY buying in Miami in a week (car is still at port for processing since early/mid december) is a bespoke USB w/ black interior.

TBH the bespoke build process doesnt give enough options. If you could option one with two tone dark blue & black interior (blue bits from the blue/white interior, with all the white bits just standard black) it would be KILLER. But thankfully this one is mostly what I would have ordered myself apart from some extra options I think are a waste of $$, but a bird in the hand ya know?

If nothing else I'll do the paperwork at the dealer on the 15th then figure out how to get it to TX once it arrives. I dont really wanna fly out AGAIN, but I also dont want it sitting in their lot for 2-4 weeks waiting on a transport. Intercity was 3 weeks out minimum when I called them recently.

To me, the bespoke allows you to select the color you like unlike an inspiration series where the color is set.
Besides the Structural Blue, there’s no other inspiration series color that is attractive to me. Unique, maybe. But not attractive.

I thought the 2020 Nori Green over two-tone brown interior cars were pretty, but then I'm biased...

Either way, no DHP on a Bespoke car (or Inspirations pre-2026), if that matters to you...

Yes indeed!
Nori Green with that interior was one of most tasteful choices offered in the LC 500.
Lexus should have kept that interior as an ongoing option. I also agree that the inability to get the DHP with bespoke orders is nonsensical.

It is a very weird choice by Lexus. Why not let bespoke orders be optioned higher? Makes no sense. My guess is they ordered a limited # of DHP components from their supplier and didnt want too many bespoke orders requesting them, surpassing their ability to build. But they "approve" bespoke orders anyway I'm sure they could have a "constraint" placed on limited supply options.

Just really weird. Fortunately I didnt actually want DHP bc I didnt want the rear steer, so it worked out well finding the bespoke USB in Miami if all goes to plan.

I agree that some of the current bespoke builds can be even rarer than the recent inspiration series offerings. I also think that a handful of older, pre-bespoke cars might also be very unique offerings, too. For example, I was told that my 'special order' '23 conv't w/cloudburst gray, toasted caramel and a BLACK top (most were built with tan tops) was one of only a handful built that way WW due to the shortened model year + early transition to 2024's with the upgraded touchscreen.

I only wish that Toyota/Lexus would offer TOTAL flexibility in the bespoke build process (for an upcharge of course) that would allow (based on availability)a chance to mix-n-match any color combo's from the entire past product run (like blue interiors, blue tops with any interior, two-tone interiors, previous exterior colors currently not available anymore like orange, copper, yellow, etc.). What a great way to close out the product plan!

It's truly weird, for such a handbuilt car... I do wonder, though, whether Lexus USA hasn't been part of the problem, in terms of the inflexibility to allow certain combinations, some of which were available in other markets (Canada, Middle-East, etc.)

Autumn Shimmer over Manhattanhenge (but with a black steering wheel), anyone?
