I have a 2018 and use Android Auto with Google Maps. Since AA wasn't offered on the LC until 2021, I use this:

Interestingly, if you tell the Lexus voice commands something it doesn't understand, it will typically respond with something like "I'm sorry, I didn't get that" or something indicating that it doesn't know what you're asking it. However, if you say "Hey Lexus, turn display off" it responds with "I'm sorry, that feature is not available" which to me indicates that somewhere the software knows this is a command, but has explicitly disallowed it.

You need an Ottocast, then no reason for any phone holder. I've got it for IOS and it made a big difference with having to jack the phone. Connects via Bluetooth, streams via WiFi.

@NickL the way I have solved this to not require more than one touch or any scrolling is to say "Hey Lexus, show display settings" then give it a second, then tap the "Display off" icon. It works at speed and reduces the process to one single touch. You can then get to climate settings directly once screen is off by pressing the seat heater button to launch straight to that screen. Does not solve the fingerprint issue but does solve the navigating to the display off setting problem. It's annoying if you're in the middle of a conversation and want to turn it off via voice, but if you're alone all it'll do is interrupt your music for a second.

Then it responded something like “Sorry, can’t do”
Then I would say “ Turn the ****ing screen off”
Then it would respond “ Sorry, I don’t understand”
It’s really weird that if you turn on the climate by pressing the seat/steering wheel heater button, the screen would stay on indefinitely.
Anyways, small first world problem I think and especially for me driving less than 3k miles a year on the LC.

Yes, the Lexus factory navigation app is surprisingly amazing. You get full screen, voice command integration, and real-time traffic.

Remind me, is the native Lexus navigation cloud based? Is that the thing that comes with free first 3 years or is it 10 years? What happens when that expires? Navigation no longer works or just doesn’t update?
I still have traffic info(although not 100% accurate) on my 2015 GS in the native navigation.
This cloud based stuff and subscription seems like a wallet pincher.

Once the 3 years are up, the navigation will still work, but you will lose access to things like the updated map and points of interest. The software will revert to whatever was installed at the time your vehicle was produced. So if in year 2 of ownership a new road and a mcdonalds is built near you, that will be in your maps until your trial expires, at which point, that road and mcdonalds will no longer show up in your maps if you don't subscribe.
edit: Above is what happened on my 2021 Sienna which came with a similar 3 year trial for Dynamic Nav. That said, I see the newer models ie 23+ come with "Drive Connect" which includes the nav. I'm less clear what will happen here, but I am inclined to think it will be the same. May lose traffic info though, but I think overall Nav will still work and just won't receive the real-time route and POI info, or any subsequent map updates.

Really doesn’t matter though as I find those Navi are pretty much useless and use google maps on my phone. Someday I will shell out the $750 and get Beatsonic S connect on one of them but there’s always that “I don’t know how long I’m going to keep this car for”.

It's 3 years for the Dynamic Navigation. The 10 year trial is Service or Safety Connect, go figure they want to make it easier to bring your car in for service lol.

Lexus Generation 12 Nav was introduced for model year 2022 LX / NX then 2023 ES / LS / RX / RZ / UX and 2024 GX / LC / TX
Gen 12 is Cloud Navigation meaning that there are NO embedded maps built into the vehicle and all map data is delivered over the cloud.
