Interior Hood Latch Fix

It appears the cable disengaged from the interior hood latch. Does anyone have any experience fixing this. I believe I will need to remove the bottom panel and the lower dash to get to it. Just checking into to see if anyone has experience.

If you pry the tab out as shown, the release handle slides off.
