I just picked up a '24 LC coupe in infrared (CF roof). I am having a chrome delete done at my local vinyl shop [Speed Sheild]. This same company did the Chrome delete on my '17 RC, and it looked just as good last month when I traded it in as the day they finished the work. The plan is to go with a black satin on all of the chrome except for the accents over the windows, which would be gloss black to not clash with the CF roof. I have a question about the rear taillight accent piece. First off, I don't know why Lexus chose to put a texture on this one piece of the entire car. Secondly, in our talks with the shop, we think it may be easier to paint it. I would like to know the experiences of the folks here in terms of wrapping versus painting. I like wrapping because it preserves the original parts if I ever want to return it to stock. I looked into buying replacement trim pieces, and unless I am reading the parts list incorrectly, they are $300 apiece (which is insane). To be clear, I am only suggesting paint for the taillight brow; the rest will be vinyl.

Because nothing screams resale value better than cheap fake carbon fiber and covered chrome pieces... good luck when you sell these gems... broke asses who want to buy this stuff used are.. broke asses...... with every bad decision you make you are both weakening the resale value of your own cars while at the same time increasing the resale value of those other well kept cars.

 

Not everyone cares for resale. They rather customize their vehicle to their liking. The carbon fiber on the tail lights are very tastefully done. IMO of course. Also very reversible when you tired of it and want to go back to stock. Probably add a level of protection too since I think that chrome trim piece on the taillights is probably very prone to scratches.

 

I'm sorry my reply is a bit harsh. I lived through the late 90s..2000s decimation of the z32 , supra and Mazda models from owners who couldn't afford to maintain them but didn't mind dropping 2k on wheels..Of course my friend, your reply is the correct one.. your car your preference..party on. coming froma grumpy old man..
