Default Glass roof delaminating

2020 LC500 CPO with 20K miles. Noticed last November that the back edge of the roof glass has bubbles along the back edge. I think of it as delaminating from the frame though perhaps that is not the correct description. Getting pushback from Lexus to pay for the repair. Has anyone else had a similar issue with the roof or front windshield glass?

Have not heard of this What kind of "pushback" is the dealer giving you?

They have offered to pay only 3/8 of the cost to replace/repair the roof. That was offered as a courtesy. From my perspective this was an unfortunate manufacturing defect. That it has appeared only months after the end of the bumper to bumper warranty is why they have thus far not offered to fully cover it under warranty. Owning their flagship car, which is otherwise just as it should be, and having this problem arise is deflating. Sucked the fun right out of trying to brag about build quality.

Just wondering, our Comprehensive insurance includes 'full glass". We usually do a no deductible glass because of how many stones are thrown around here (and I haven't had much luck with the plug style repairs). Ours does not specify windshield only, just says glass. Maybe check with your insurance carrier and see?

I can't imagine.. but I can anticipate issue with the glass roof as there are a ton of rocks in this geographic region along with a lot of construction and terrible road quality. My windshield got a crack in my LC500 when I owned it less than 2 months new. Several other cars have gotten cracked windshields from random rocks.. Knowing that.. I wouldn't own a glass roof car here, atleast. And thats just from rocks.. Your issue is a defect.. Which is insane.

Seriously? You're gonna pay higher insurance rates for 3-5 years for a 3-5 thou repair?
You have an insurance score just as volatile as your credit score. Every dollar paid on any claim goes on your score. (Some phone inquiries even go against your score. Never Even give your name on an ask a question call.) Insurance is for severe claims not piddly *** $5000 claims.

I am happy to say, after much patience on my part, that Lexus decided to honor the CPO warranty. This is why I chose a CPO vehicle and all the thanks in the world goes to my local dealer (Metro Lexus in Cleveland) while the selling dealer just shrugged their shoulders and told me that I should have inspected the car more carefully.

Good to hear, respect to Metro Lexus. Was the selling dealer a Lexus dealership?

Yes, a Lexus dealership offering it online with a CPO warranty. Since I can't say anything nice about them I'll just leave them nameless other than to say a Boston area dealer.

Flagship gets the exact same treatment as a camry. No more no less. My new lc has dirt in the paint on the drivers door just above the door handle. Lexus solution, repaint 1/3 of the entire car to fix!
