Default Carbon fiber hood install help

Anyone have experience with the Seibon carbon fiber hood for the LC? Just went install it. The fit seemed almost perfect until the very end. Went too close to hood and it won’t catch on the second latch. Anyone have this problem or know if the actual hood latch can be adjusted up some? Trying to avoid using hood pins if possible. I noticed other people don’t have them. Thank you for any suggestions

I like the look of the hood. Tried searching online to find a distributor but was unable. Where did you order yours from?

It’s by Seibon. I think it was the BT version. Was able to figure out why it wouldn’t latch.

I had the same problem with the non-vented version of the Seibon hood. I ended up loosening the bolts on hood latch mechanism and adjusting it up as far up as it would go, then tighten the bolts. I moved maybe a cm or so but it was finally able to latch with a bit of force. (I removed the front bumper to get full access to the bolts for the latch)

Hope that helps. Seems like some folks are hit or miss when it comes to the fitment of these hoods.

Appreciate it. Yeah, that’s kind of what we had to do. At first I thought the latch bar on the hood wasn’t long enough to catch. Once we got up into the bumper and got a better look, we could see that it just wasn’t catching the bar in the center. It was striking too far back.

I’ve had the same issue, but still just slamming my hood. I need to adjust the latch to make it latch properly without slamming.

The factory bolts that hold the latches in place are shouldered and therefore don’t allow a lot of adjustment. Solution - replace the factory bolts with some they are the same thread and measured length from a hardware store that aren’t shouldered. They will allow you to adjust the latch up slightly so the hood catches it.

They look super, I have a white LC and it is the way to go. What is the cost of these hoods?

Not sure if anyone in this thread with the Seibon hood is still active @iamnaeem maybe?

Has anyone done the Seibon carbon fiber hood install themselves? Is it just as straight forward as remove stock, transfer the latch and hinges, attach new? Do I need to buy any new seals or anything? Any special care needs to be taken re: hood explosives (disconnect battery first or not necessary)?

, still have my hood on. Semi-easy install, but much easier with 2 people, only because it's awkward to hold it up by yourself unless you have a really wide wingspan.

Installation steps
  1. Open hood
  2. Unbolt the struts from the hood
  3. Remove OEM hood
  4. Replace with seibon hood
  5. Bolt the struts to the new hood
  6. Adjust the hood latch to be slightly higher (or lower) to ensure it catches and closes properly
  7. Take pics and post them online

Haha perfect! Thank you much! Does the bumper need to come off to perform step 6?

Hmm I don't plan on buying one of these but I noticed this when I was checking out the website.

Gas Struts Warning Do not use stock shocks, dampers, struts, or springs. Carbon products are lighter in weight, so these mechanisms may prevent your hood and/or trunk from closing and may cause products to crack due to pressure.

Wonder what the weight difference is between the stock one and the Seibon. If it does crack they might ask if you used the OEM struts.
