Default JLC CREE Reverse and Turn Singal Lights

Hi all,

Here is the lights I put in my car today. Click on the thumbnails to see larger size.

These ones taken at 1/60 speed. For the reverse, the pic on the right, shows the JLC CREE (installed left) compared to the 13-SMD (right).

Pics taken at night, at 1/40 speed. In a few pics here, being taken from the front of car taking picture of the garage of the reflection. You can tell which one is the CREE as it is more focused and instantly on while stock bulb either has not lit or not gone to full brightness (except for one pic) during the hazard signal's on/off.

Pics taken at 1/30 speed.

Hmm never heard of Amber color Cree LED bulbs... I don't see them on the JLC website... where did you get the signal bulbs?

I got them from CL Forum Vendor BAUSAuto, which is JLC.

The amber color is difficult to make bright to my understanding, but it's seems reasonably bright. The white one is definately brighter, but due to the driving laws, I don't want get unwanted attention. Technically Canada, does allow the front turn singals to be white or amber but yeah....

From what JLC sent to me.

Here is a video. In the video, it may the lights maybe changing in brightness while it is fully lit, it's not, it's the video camera trying to adjust the light aperture. Video was taken at 1/30 shutter speed.

If seen youtube directly, it can be seen in 720p HD.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_1H2io0u_Y&hd=1

Also tested the turn signal light in the 2007 IS. I could not get the CREE all the way in because the harness seemed very tight and could not get it to straighten out so it can go in all the way (didn't figure how to get it losser), so I only part of it in there. Initial impression is that it seems fill the housing better in the rear because of the shape of the housing, compared to the 11. I did not take a video of it because since the housing is amber and the stock light is transparent therefore, the white CREE would need to be used for proper light output instead of putting an amber in there.

Hello,

A little more info,

They're CREE CHIP LED available in RED, WHITE, and AMBER. The base is surrounded with 50/50 12SMD LED s to illuminate the reflector. The OP is correct having white in the rear will have better output.

We have them available for $55 a PAIR.

These still will hyper flash.

Three possible solutions:
- Load resistor
- Aftermarket turn signal relay
- Modifying the stock relay's resistor

Seems like the stock relay mod is the one to go with.

I did the CREE reverse lights as well, though I had to mod a little. The bulbs had a lens that was more for throw and it gave me a weird pattern. I look of the lens for more still and it looks a lot better.

Mine has the lense as well do it does look like a flashlight/hotspot a bit but not that bad.

To me, it almos look like my CREE flash light I have but smaller! haha!

I recently gotten the white CREE turn signal. Much brighter but have not had a chance to have pictures/videos yet.

Hi, Sorry it took so long to chime into the thread =)

Yes use the WHITE CREE for turn signals for the best results.

Unfortunately the CREE isnt really made for the IS =( On cars like RX-8 or BMW 6 series.. it works AMAZING.

Here is a video of the white CREE in the dark. Significantly brighter than amber.

The JLC 12-SMD Panel in the trunk is also included as well.

Honestly that video doesn't tell me much. If you really want to test turn signal brightness have a video of it 50-70 yards away under bright DIRECT sunlight. Let the signals flash for a dozen seconds then have someone inside step and hold on the brakes to compare with brake light brightness.

I planned to do the day light footage but since our weather has been rainy and cloudy, the opportunity has not come up yet since I gotten the bulbs the LED's earlier this week. The only thing I am doing for now is the night one.

Had a chance to get a a video about an hour ago. It was rain, then snow, then the sunlight broke through. Put the LED lights back in and put them on for this footage while the sun is out - Reverse light CREE also included in part of it.

Ultimately I want to take a video when all the lights are in, which will be done once my next project is completed.

Hey Sango,

Great video! Exactly what I'm talking about. It really shows it standing out even during bright daylight. They are some BRIGHT LED's!
