Default Side mirror cracked

I cracked my driver side mirror while replacing the puddle lights. I was kinda in a rush and put too much pressure Can just the mirror be replaced or will I have to replace the whole side mirror assembly? This is for a 2010 IS 250.

Most likely you'll be able to replace just the mirror piece. Do you have a picture to show?

Here's a pic of the mirror. I noticed that there are two wires connected to the back of the mirror. Can those be disconnected from the mirror or is it part of a harness? Do the puddle light, motor and mirror wires all go to one connector? Asked the parts dept at dealership this question but they couldn't give me a definite answer. I didn't pull the door panel to investigate, I was already bummed from the cracked mirror. Any info is appreciated.

Looks like only the mirror needs replacing. All of the wires can be reconnected. If you can, go to a local junkyard and find a spare mirror. Otherwise, it will run you $100+/- from the dealership.

Thanks for the info. I disconnected the leads from behind the mirror. Those connectors look deceiving because it's covered with some sort of black insulation that makes it look like one piece with the mirror. Just called dealership and they have it in stock.

It's just the glass that needs to be replaced. The dealer charges a LOT for these mirrors.

The cheapest I could find was an auto glass shop that could get it for 50 bucks but had a 3-4 week lead time on it. I can't wait that long. Dealer is just a shade above 100 bucks and in stock which is ok with me.

OP: Keep in mind that you can also replace your puddle lights without removing the mirror, as well. Use the switch inside the car to adjust the mirror all the way to the bottom and then all the way to the right (repeat for every side) and use a small screwdriver to remove all of the screws. This method may take a little bit longer, but it leaves no room for error in breaking the mirror.

Saw the method you mentioned in another thread but chose to do it the other way. I was successful changing out puddles to leds the first time, picked up new flanks and not so lucky the second time.

Sucks when people don't signal...it's like they expect you to read their mind!
