HELP!!! Car starts automatically...

HELP!!! Car starts automatically...
Ok, so here is my situation...
Upon driving home form work which is about a 45 min drive I pull into my driveway, shift the vehicle into park, set the e brake, and push the off button...then when i go to reach for my house keys and laptop (passenger side seat) the car automatically starts itself...this has happened at least 6 times. has anyone experienced this...i must note, the car has warned me of low battery in my key but this shouldnt effect ignition...
any suggestions...i want to bring it in for service but i cannot replicate the issue repeatedly

I knew it. Dang cars already think for us and now they are thinking for themselves!! Hoping it doesn't start to drive off on its own.
Other than that I got nothing.

or maybe the autobots have finally arrived in the FORM OF A LEXUS!

I personally think it's something to do with the vehicle's ECU. Our cars require the key inside the cabin to start soooo...The ECU probably has some weird coding...Good luck!

no one else has experienced this???
its more scary than funny (sadly)...the first time it happened i thought i hit the start button twice by accident, so i was like ehhh thought nothing of it...
i kept an eye on it everytime thereafter to see if it was me or the car...seriously the next day it happened again. i was startled because i hit the button and was waiting to see if it was gonna happen again, sure enough it did...since then i have experienced it at least 5 times, once with my friend inside...he didnt catch it but i did.
idk how to pursue this...i dont have a camera for recording and i doubt ill be able to replicate it at the dealership seeing as though it happens infrequently.

Take it to the dealer anyways, even if you can't replicate it at will. I would call the service dept and ask for their opinion. If it happens in public, someone may break your window and drive off with your car.

i want everyone to know...the car automatically starts only after me pushing the button to turn it off...meaning i dont walk out to my car to find it running.
again i push the button to turn it off, wait a few seconds and the car automatically starts back up...

Yeah, I'd say disconnect the battery for a bit to reset everything and see if it happens again.
If you don't have any camera (phone would work) then just bring it into the dealership and get an adviser to get in the car before shutting it off.

Are you holding the button down long when you are turning it off? Is there residue along the inside edges between the button and the framing of the button? Was something spilled, maybe coffee or soda and it got inside? Possible it could it be sticking and staying in because of this residue. Is your foot still on the brake when this happens?

there is no residue that i could see.
the foot on the brake is a good question...i cant recall if my foot was on or off the brake. i want to say that my foot was on the brake. that is a pure guess tho.
im gonna call the dealership tomorrow.
