Default DIY: Foglight Modification

First, I take ZERO credit for this as I did not figure this out myself. I found the info searching the forums. The credit goes to blk250

I decided to create a new thread, since *cough* most people don't search, and I know people want to do this mod. For those of you that do not "understand the concept" of this mod, it's just personal preference, nothing else.

I originally found the information posted here by blk250.

There is also a alternative method posted here by Proper 350.

BOTH methods work, just depends on what you prefer. I preferred the rocker switch way.

Also NOTE, blk250 mentions that you can alternatively tap into the purple wire on the other connector instead of the white wire and it will work only when the ignition is switched to on. I tried this first and it does not work.

The finer details are laid out in that thread.

Excuse the photos as they are from the iPhone.

1st: Remove driver side engine cover and pop off the cover on the driver side fuse box.

2nd: Pop up the front controller box, it's held by two tabs.

3nd: Tap into the light green wire w/ silver dots.

4th: Tap into the WHITE wire on the middle connector.

Another pic of both wires tapped

5th: Tuck everything back and pull your wires through the firewall and hook it up to a rocker switch and voila!

Does the factory settings still work? (i.e. drl's turn on after e-brake release, fog lights on with auto turn on of headlights and drl off, etc.). Thanks in advance!

I think the holy grail would be if someone could wire it so that the stock foglight "switch" (the thing you rotate on the headlight stalk) would turn on the fogs no matter what setting you're on (low beams on, high beams on, auto, parking lights, etc.). Is this possible?

Looks nice!!... So is this just taping light green wire w/ silver dots and WHITE wire together? No cutting required? And where can I get those connectors/clips?

I like this mod. But what I would like even better is when I hit the high beams my fogs don't shut off. Anyone know how to do that!? or does this mod prevent that from happening already??
