Thumbs up 2013 ISF Vs 2012 E92 Video

Finally found sometime to leave the city and do a few good runs against my cousin's E92 M3.

Now his car has done 38,000km and it's been driven very hard on long motorway stretches throughout those miles, and he has an Eisenman Cat-back Exhaust. Other than that he's stock.

We've raced a few times at 1,500km and at around 3,000km on my ISF and each time he pretty much pulled ahead of me by a car length or a car and a half from very early on.

Today was our first race after my 5k service, and the IS-F sat beside him till around 200km or so. Both were surprised. I'm hoping with a few more miles the IS-F would be neck to neck with the M3.

Also personally I believe the exhaust adds a bit of hp to his car because before the cat-back you couldn't hear his exhaust at all, and after the cat-back it sounds like a beast and pulls very well.

The run was a rolling start from 30km. (He has crappy tires lol)

Anyway, hope you guys enjoy the clip, and try and play it on 1080p:

Also on a side note, I've got my Joe-z and PPE Headers sitting in my cupboard

And here's the M3's perspective:

Add a Joe Z or Borla exhaust to make the race even..( Did not read that you have headers and exhaust to be installed when I made the post).

For sure, headers will put you ahead but he has other options as well...ah modding never ends

Yeah for the M3, he has two main mods he can add:

1) X-pipe which gives a decent amount of power

2) Remap, not sure how much this will add but it does add power.

Oh and I forgot to mention the race was done from a rolling start 30km.

Both cameras are Contour+2 HD Cameras.

BUT I didn't have my settings set correctly (first video), my cousin had his on the correct light setting which yielded a better video (second video)

Good run even though it was a loss. Once your full bolt-on there will be nothing he can do though.

Did you car spin at all? Even in stock form, I've seen a good amount of wheel spin from 1st gear rolls...

No I didn't have any wheel spin, rolling from 30km reduced the chances of that.

I'm in no way disappointed, you should have seen the difference when I first got the car he would immediately gain on me from the beginning. With the car breaking in I'm sure it'll do better.

Also he has the cat-back exhaust, I know it doesn't add much but personally I believe it gives him that needed edge on top speed. His car is fully loaded as well, it has the funky transmission DCT or DSG I dunno what it's called with all the fancy gadgets.

That's an awesome place to race by the way, no traffic or cops or pedestrians.

Looks like a lot of fun.

Throw the headers and exhaust on man!

Why does it look like your hood is not fully closed?

the hood on my F does that too -

at high speeds, I can literally see it lift - like it flutters open and close slightly. This happens at 80 mph+ for me.

Yeah the area is pretty good, outside the city on a deserted road with nothing for miles.

You do have to watch out for camels on the horizon though.

Also because it's flat and open at high speeds you can really feel the wind blowing you sideways.

Yes this is what I wanted to talk about.

Now I first noticed this a month back driving on the motorway, it looked like the hood was fluttering so I stopped and checked the hood and everything is fine.

I've come to the conclusion that at high speeds the hood lifts, and it's not nice.

Firstly it's scary because the thought of the hood opening at those speeds isn't pretty.

Secondly I'm sure that must be putting some sort of resistance on the car at higher speeds, I mean just think of it, all the air being trapped under the hood instead of going over it.

I'm actually thinking of sello-taping the hood shut next time and see if it'll make a difference.

do all ISF owners have the same issue?
