I purchased a TMS style rear diffuser ( i believe this is a Tom's diffuser replica accordin to pictures online to compare it with) from a friend as he sold his ISF and was wondering how do i install this? As you can see the back side the edges are well just edges usually they are flat so you can put some 3m mounting tape on it. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue? I looked around the threads and it seems like most go with either the Honda part# 08f03-shj-1100d molding tape, Toyota camry rear lip tape part#76975-06020-B0 or silicone glue ( i dont want to go this route unless i have to because my bumper just got fresh paint). Any advice would help! Thanks! See below for pictures:
You're lucky you got a decent looking diffuser from JJ Carbon. The one I got from him was paper thin and you can see through the thin layer of CF...Didn't have a great experience dealing with him, but back on topic. You might have to double up on your double sided adhesive tape. The molding tape/rear lip tape is more like a weather seal molding so it might help with the gapping here and there if its not totally flush. Put some blue painters tape on your rear bumper to test fit, see where and what areas will rest against the bumper and those will be the areas where you'll definitely need to apply the adhesive tape.
I ended up selling mine before installing it so someone who actually has experience can chime in.
The top edge needs to be flat to apply 3M tape. On my Toms one it has a flat edge to it. That rubber trim from Honda is what I used on my lips. Ill take pictures of my diffuser I have sitting in my garage.
