Default MY2010 vs MY2011

I’m looking at purchasing a ISF and wanted to know what others thought.

MY2010 Matador Red 50000 miles No accidents

MY2011 Silver 60000miles No accidents

Price is pretty similar.

The red colour is quite rare I’ve read but the 2011 has some factory upgrades to the car as I’ve read here. Both are stock vehicles.

it would be a weekend car and I don’t plan to mod or anything to it.

The kicker is that the silver one is a private sale so I’d have to fly out of state and drive it back while the red is through a dealership and they would be able to ship it to me at a cost. With all the virus thing happening , I’d rather get it shipped.

Which one would you go with?

Thanks. I’d have to fly there and drive it back around 700 miles. Which on google maps states it is a 11-12 hour drive.

does that change your mind?

Not at all

The 2011 has upgrades that I would want

And the silver is a bit more of a preference than the red

When I was in a similar situation when I got my ISF 6 years ago. I had a choice between 2010 starfire pearl (29k miles) or 2011 smokey granite mica (33k miles). I test drove both, and I liked the 2011 by quite a bit. I liked the instrument cluster of the 2010 better, but between updated DRL of the 2011, ride quality and the Torsen LSD, I did not regret my decision in choosing the 2011.

Mercury silver is an amazing color with much more depth than many other silver colors, the new cluster doesn't hurt either, in the end it would come down to the condition of each vehicle, both being equal I would take the 2011

Just a reminder to anyone looking for an ISF the 2010 started the inclusion of the Torsen LSD and is often mistaken by people that because of the updates to the stock suspension starting in 2011 that the LSD started in 2011 which is incorrect.

For me the 2010 fit my criteria when I was looking to buy my ISF as I liked the 2008-2010 instrument clusters symmetry (personal preference). The 2010 had the Torsen LSD and the stock suspension was going to be replaced with an aftermarket suspension anyway for me. There are plenty of aftermarket light options now that include the LED DRL so that wasn't an issue when I purchased as well.

Just some food for thought

Unless you really have a strong preference for the red color or older cluster then I'd go with the 2011. While I agree with MileHIFcar that the other user was mistaken and both cars have the LSD I think you'll prefer the other factory upgrades on the 2011 since you won't be modding it.

With that said, I'm sure you'd be happy with either assuming they are both in good condition.

I have a 29,000 2010 Matador Red, buy the 2011 silver. If and when it comes time to sell a 2011 and non red is a much easier sell.

Red is rarest as it’s a color not many wanted so they didn’t sell many.

I was not aware that 2010 was the year Lexus started to include the Torsen LSD.

Apologies!

No worries. As MileHIFcar alluded to it's a common misconception since there were a lot of changes in 2011... easy to accidentally lump them all in together.

Here is a summary broken out by year for anyone interested:

As the owner of a 2012 MM, I am slightly biased. I was looking for MM, White (forget the color name) or Nebula and was very happy to get the silver with everything else I was looking for. This is my 4th silver car and I humbly think it is the best version of silver yet.

Knowing the changes over the production run of the car, newer tends to be better (gross generalization). Good luck!
