Default What is this?

Any one know what this is on the windshield? I bought the car a month ago. Not a factory item. It has a cable attached to it that runs under the dash somewhere. There is no markings or numbers on the device. Not sure what it does if anything.

Both my cars have it. I believe it is a sensor for the electronically controlled windshield wipers. It’s looking for rain. Mine both appear to be OEM.

If the Lexus is a 2007,08,09 before Satellite Radio was standard perhaps it is a XMSirius antenna.
Otherwise it may be an aftermarket alarm/remote start antenna. Does the side visible through
the glass have any features such as a lens or any markings such as a brand name/model #?

I believe the wiper module is on the right side.

It's an 08. There are no markings or model numbers or any markings of any kind. It's just 3med to the glass.

The radio head unit has a source button for "AM Sat". Satellite tuners were a port or dealer
installed option that plugged into a socket on the back of the unit. If pressing the "AM Sat"
button twice just stays on AM then you do not have the tuner. If the second press switches
to Sirius channel 000 or 001 then you have the tuner and no subscription. In this case the
mystery module is an Satellite antenna.

Tune to Sat Channel 000 and note the 8 character Radio ID. Go online to XMSirius.com and consider
the packages available. Do Not enroll online...call the 800 number and tell them that you Do Not Want
to enroll (so why did you call?) Now they will offer you various discounted packages and terms! Be aware
that when the special arrangement expires your credit card will re-up at full price so you must stay ahead
of this and call again every year to play the game again.
