Default battery suggestions

so my battery is finally taking a dump.
looked through the older threads on here but need help.
i went to pepboys to get the bosh platinum and they no longer carry BOSCH so i went over to oreilys and they only have some "superstart" brand.
i had optima yellowtops in my older car and they were trash.
anyone got recommendations?
was planning to just got with Napa's premium AGM again.

Doesn't seem to matter for me, as I typically only get 5-6 yrs out of a battery nowadays. I went with one from Autozone; but it still wasn't cheap. Only issue I had was the stock plastic cover wouldn't fit back on. No worries, I just took it off and put it on a shelf in the garage.

I got a Superstart one I put in recently. I want to the Platinum one? The one the previous owner had died a few months back. Optima is not as good as they used to be as I usually use the red top. Decided to use whatever off the shelf ones they had at O'Reillys but at least a decent tier. I figure if they died, I still have a two year warranty to switch them out.

I can’t recall the brand, but I spent roughly 100 bucks on mine from Costco. That was within the last few months, so I can’t speak to longevity. My cover also would not go back in, so it is on a shelf as well.

Go with Interstate. I just replaced mine with a MTP-24 from them. Always had good luck with them.

Pep Boys is clearing out their stock of Bosch batteries. Some are over 2yrs old. Check the manufacture date.

Bought mine from them only to find out it had been on the shelf for 2 years! It died a few months ago (about 2-3 years after I bought it) but was lucky enough to get a free replacement.

Default Checked Consumer Reports

Mine also went bad this week. It was getting sluggish for the last month or two. Didn’t have enough CCA to fire the beast. Spent 2 hours reading and researching batteries before making a decision. I went to Walmart and bought a $110 Everstart Maxx. 700CCA, 3 year free replacement and then prorated for another 2 years. It was rated highly on Consumer Reports for the version that fits our cars. Not #1, but in the top 5.

Why not get one of the Top 4? I like the convenience of knowing I can drop into any Walmart in any city and get it replaced. With the other batteries I would have to find a store open and find one that carries the battery I bought. It might not be superior, but I travel for work and end up in places that just don’t have an Interstate or Batteries Plus or NTB etc.

Like others have said, the factory plastic battery cover wouldn’t fit the Walmart battery. I used a hacksaw to trim the handle tabs on the new battery and it fits now.

I have had good luck with these in the past, seem to hold up better if vehicle is not driven often.
