Default Wild cabin noise!

6 weeks in and I'm already glad I got the extended warranty. This morning I start the car and hear what I swear is an air compressor running in the cab. Does it for 30 seconds every time I start the car. Dealer thought they'd have it and a new GPS recall handled today. Called at 4 to say they'll need it til Monday. Anyone else have this experience? Airbag recall was completed recently by a different dealer according to the one I left it with.

Isn't the airbag recall now done through the glove box? If that's the case, it would confirm my initial thought that it sounds like the motor responsible for moving the recirc flap (also behind the glove box) is spinning its gears. I would guess something wasn't put together correctly.

So wouldn't that mean if you attempt to cycle that motor settings and no change would mean the gear is stripped?

Yes, stripped or maybe just misaligned although I've never had that part of car disassembled. Further, the sound/tone of the air circulating changes slightly between fresh/recirc modes. No change in tone could be further indication of damaged recirc mechanism. Gotta open it up.

Reportedly a screw from the airbag recall repair that fell into the blower...screw was extracted per the dealer but I haven't been in person to talk it over.

WoW..!! A screw in the spin cycle.. In theory no noise if the entire HVAC system was off..

Make sure you get a new a/c filter put in by them too

Wow that sound was awful. Glad it was an easy fix and not something worse.

I cut the video after it stopped, it did only run 30 sec on startup so I knew it was something computer controlled and switchable.
