Default Trans downshifting is slow

I haven't driven any other ISF's so I dont know if my car drives "normal". If you're going like 15- 20 mph and floor it, does your car down shift to first gear? Mine seems to mostly stay in second gear. Have to be going little slower and really bury throttle to finally get it to downshift to 1st gear. At highway speeds if I half throttle it, it really takes a while to downshift and start to pull with any authority. Feels like waiting for the downshift, then the torque converter to adjust, then it starts pulling. Anyone else's F do this? I'm just curious if that's just how it is? Thanks for your help

Are you in sport mode? If I am not in sport mode I feel like my car thinks it is an old man. With sport mode it is quite a bit more lively. Also, It shifts smoother and quicker when everything is warmed up.

Even so, if I am cursing in 8th and hammer it, it takes a while to make it down to 3rd or 4th. Going manual and putting it in the gear you want if you are going to pass or drive with some gusto is the best way to get the most out of it.

Don't know about making it to first gear when flooring it.

Be sure your mashing all the way down. There is a kickdown switch under the accelerator that tells the gearbox to hurry up. Many owners have believed their gearbox was shifting too slow when they were not mashing hard enough to engage the kickdown switch. There is also a mod to this switch to make it much easier to engage it.

Thank you, sounds like it's normal for this transmission

I installed an Apexi throttle controller that's engaged w/Sport mode every time I drive the vehicle. Downshifts occur much faster.
