Default Advice on custom exhaust components

I'm fortunate that I live not far from a a really good custom exhaust fabricator. He does marvelous work and can build me a really nice dual exhaust (in stainless) for a fraction of the cost of a store bought version.

Unfortunately, he doesn't carry any resonators (he actually prefers that you bring in your resonators, cats, mufflers). So my question is more specifically about resonators.

I'll be going 2.5", h-pipe...nothing fancy here. Will not be running secondary cats. I want some resonators to reduce noise/drone/rasp. I'm (sorta) old, car is a DD, I travel...so I want to retain a close-to-stock sound when just loafing along.

So.....I need a 2.5" in/out resonator. Beyond that....how long? 10"? 14" 18"? Any special diameter? Any other info you might impart?

Thanks!!

I was really happy with the Vibrant parts I used on the custom exhaust for my last car so I'd recommend their
Ultra Quiet resonator Ultra Quiet resonator
. If I ever build an exhaust for my F that is what I will be using for sure.

You should consider doing X-Force Varex valved mufflers - it will allow you to fine tune exhaust note from stock to much louder when you want to.

I've read enough posts about the valves failing or sticking...

Not interested.
