Im going to buy a custom exhaust very soon, its from the header back with no cats no resonators.

my question is. would it be fine if I got 1 magnaflow cat and install it where the sub-cat would be? would that reduce the sound at least by a little?

i dont mind it being pretty loud, its just that i dont want it ricer loud.

Just get a resonator and put it where the cat used to be. It'll cut down on the drone and the rasp some.
