Default 2012-2013 Depo Headlights

So I had a set of 2011-12 OEM headlights on my 08 F that I ended up taking off and replacing with the Depo brand of the 2012-13 headlights. They arrived yesterday (seller shipped them super quick from NY). They were already wired for the car minus the LEDs. Now note that I had the dealer tech turn off the high beam DRLs that the 08-10’s had came with. With a bit of some help from a friend in Wisconsin who had bought the same set, I was able to get the LEDs to work. Inside the fuse box under the hood by the driver’s side, my buddy had a Add a circuit mini blade fuse holder. Added a 7.5 amp to the 10 amp fuse and wired the green wire from the wiring harness that is on the bottom towards the high beam for 100% LED brightness, 50% for the black wire, and used the white wire for the ground. Got some blue butt connectors, 16 gauge wire and made his magic work. Now the LEDs turn on as soon as all the accessory functions turn on before starting the car and while the car is on! Back to the whole review of the headlights.. They work just like the OEM and the LEDs are pure white without the yellow shade of tint that the 2011-12’s came with so I would say they are more like 2013-14 headlights. As far as light output from the projectors goes, the light is very good and you can see a bit of the cutoff since these are not original but with 6000K bulbs it works wonders. For those of you who are looking to buy the Depo brand for your F’s I would say 10/10 go for it. The seller’s name is *autolights360* on eBay. Hope this review helps those of you who are looking to upgrade to the 2011+ style headlights!

Do you have pictures of everything? Cutoff, headlights, led strip?

Thanks for the review, though I have a lot of questions:
1. If you had the 11+ oem lights, why upgrade?
2. Where did you buy them from and how much? I currently see three listings for Depo HID ones for sale by xtremelights2003 $995, autopartsinneed $999, and *autolights360* $1094. All say bulbs and ballasts are not included. I have also read that some wiring/caps are not included in these, did you have to buy additional parts or pulled them from a previous set? For those of us looking to upgrade and sell the old set, it may not make sense to pull parts off an existing headlight listed for sale.
3. You mention that the lights were already wired, but not for the LED's, and that your DRL's were off and you had to do more wiring. Was the wiring needed only because tech stream had your DRL's off?
4. Might you have a photo of the LED strip lights OEM and Depo side by side?

Thanks very much in advance, and sorry for all of the questions. There have been so few members here and on the FB groups who have gotten the HID Depo's so it's tough to get detailed reviews.

There's a long thread about these in the 2IS section:

That's an extremely detailed thread, but 99% of it is on the halogen Depo's.

The reason why I had upgraded to the Depo set was that the passenger headlight had a hole that was drilled in by one of the previous owners for a screw to hold in the housing. Instead of doing it’s job, it leaked water inside and caused condensation. Instead of finding one used 11-12 replacement housing not knowing how the condition of it would be (knowing life with people not always disclosing the truth about what they sell) I bought a pair so that they would be matching. To answer #2 I had said that I bought them off of *autolights360* for the amount you had stated. #3 the older years had DRLs that were powered through the high beams under low power to be on. So I had those disabled after a while of installing my previous set of the OEMs just so that I could use my high beams since the bulbs were disconnected. The LEDs were wired to the fuse box to ignition #2 (is shown on the fuse box cover of the location) had that grounded to one of the screws that’s holding some wires to get the power source to run the LEDs as if they were working from 2011-14 as DRLs but at 100% brightness. On the depos there is a wire that is purple which isn’t present on the OEMs so that made it confusing since I thought the wiring was the same which it turned out to be otherwise. #4 I am about to post a pic of the OEMs with LEDs and the Depos. As far as night time shots I will post the Depo and OEMs once I get a chance to take a picture at night of the new set

As far as the cut off on the OEM projectors I don’t have any pics unfortunately of how they light up for a comparison to the depos but I’ll be more than glad to post a pic of the Depo cutoffs when I can. Hope this helps so far

You don't have any wall shots? The beam angle looks low too btw.
