its not the dealership. $350 for Brembo front rotors, front Stop Tech Pads, and Motul Brake fluid. $150 for install and brake flush. Is that a bad price?

will probably end up getting a used ford raptor. Although I like having a faster car...having something i can go snowboarding and surfing with and can just throw **** in the back is what i need right now. I also dont want to have to worry about going slow over everything. My next car will be at gt3 hopefully in the next year or 2.

I hear you about the expenses, I've only had mine for a 1 year and 10 months (mostly covered by my extended warranty). Picked up an 08 with 58.5k miles (I now have 83K). Here is a list of things done in the short time I've had it :

Under Warranty
1) Water Pump $750
2) Dead Battery and Tow - $300
3) Navigation Unit - $2,100

Major maintenance / issues I have done so far (out of pocket):
Spark Plugs $300
Trans Fluid fill $300
4 sets of tires $1400
Front Brakes $500
Rear speaker rattle $250

Issues I fixed at no cost (thanks to this forum):
Visor light no longer working
Airbag light turned on
Rattles on the front dash

Ongoing issues:
Moonroof rattles
Losing coolant every 4 months (possibly valley plate but no signs of leaks)
Engine ticking (sounds like cracked manifold).

It may seem like a lot and it has been a roller coaster but I LOVE the car. I wouldn't blame you if you sold it and got something else but I've already invested so much time that it's going to be hard to let go.
I have the same annoying sunroof rattle as well...the dash noise and every other creak and crack a $65k car should not have...Other than those VERY annoying things I love it..What did you do to combat the dash noises?

Ahh I thought you were you talking about just 4 brake pads. Still You can buy Genuine Brembo front rotors for $220

Yeah I got the Brembo rotors for $113 each at Amazon. The stop tech sport pads were about $90 and the brake Motul brake fluid was $30ish for two bottles. So $350 total, plus $150 to install and flush.

I got a washer from Home Depot and jammed it in between where the windshield met and the dash. It’s crude but I don’t get rattled anymore. I made sure to tuck them in deep so I don’t see them as well. Kinda like this video:

Yikes, I probably would have moved on from that car after the first $10k in repairs regardless that it was covered under an extended warranty... Probably definitely time to move on from that particular car..

I've heard mostly all positive things about those Ford Raptor SVT trucks.. You may want to steer clear of German cars (especially if buying used), their repairs can pile up on cars with way fewer miles than your ISF had/has..

Yeah steer clear of German. You have had an atypical experience. Most here have bought oil, filters, fuel, tires and brakes over the life of the car.... well and thousands in customizing.

So I read this thread yesterday and my otherwise trouble-free F just had the nav screen stop working?!

Can I put a newer gen nav in it to get better interface and Bluetooth from say a 11+ car?

So far, not easily. From what we have been able to divine from our 2IS brethren, you need a different amp to support the newer front end units. I am actually working on this this month with a borrowed front end, but I am not confident it will work without changing the amp yet.

Fixing a broken screen is pretty easy and at this point, not terribly expensive if you can work on electronics yourself.

Wow, this thread is surprising to me. I am fairly new here and have only owned my 08 since October 2016/29,500 miles, but have put about 44k on it as of today. So far, other than spark plugs/brakes/tires, it has only had one issue, some headlight condensation that was covered under warranty. No cracked headers, no bad water pump, no valley plate leak, and no sticky dash/door panels. Heck, I was hoping the warranty would get more use since it was around $2500. Performance is great, MPG's are great, and insurance isn't crazy high. So far it's my favorite car. I hope you have less issues or find an easier to own car. No matter how good a dealer or car is, can't enjoy it if it's from the seat of a loaner.

So far, I've had my 2012 for about two years. I purchased CPO with 40k and have just over 120k now, mostly highway. I haven't had any track days and have only ran it down the 1/4 once. I really haven't had any significant issues so far, but I have a few that will be coming soon enough. I'm getting exactly the type of ownership that I expected from the car.
