08 ISF engine pull
whatsup everyone,
curious us how many of you have any experience with pulling the 2UR? Is this possible without a lift? If so can I get away with leaving the trans in the car? I don’t have access to a lift and the engine needs to come out. What are my options here? Thanks in advance!

You need a cherry picker and trans jack or floor jack at minimum to remove it.
I just pulled mine a few weeks ago.
If this is your first, or even second time removing an engine i would recommend you take it to a professional

I have both tools mentioned, and enough skill to do it. Just making sure it will come out from the top.
Im assuming you did yours this way? You pulled the motor with the tranny attached? Did you remove the front end to pull? I havent even gone under the car yet, are the mounts accesible? Did you leave subframe etc bolted up?
very much apreciated!

Remove front clip, it all unbolts
Drop subframe
leave trans attached
Drop steering shaft(mark both ends)
Harbor freight floor trans jack and 4 bolts on the trans plus dropping the shaft.
This engine can be out in Under 2 hours.

awesome, exactly what I needed. It does look very simple to disconnect in the engine bay. I assume heatercore hoses, fuel lines, un clip harness at main connect, exhaust driveshaft and subframe...I’m assuming that’s it?

The trans cooler line will need to be disconnected from the radiator itself since it used a row in the radiator and an external cooler, i just left the entire pipe assembly hanging with the trans.
ECU needs to come out completely, once you get the engine out you can work on taking the harness off the engine itself.
Don't forget brake booster vacuum hose.
There's 3 fuel lines.
Steering ecu.
If you drop your exhaust completely you need to remove the rear o2 sensor connectors which suck to get to since theyre under the front carpet.
That's all i can think of atm.

Not quite, the a/c condenser is removed, by law need to dispose or retain refrigerant in a sealed container.

It it looks as if I could lower the engine onto an adjustable cart and wheel it out, no? Doesn’t seem like I have to pull the engine up and out? Basically the same as you would on a lift but not lifting the car up and the motor being out, more just pulling the motor straight out? In my experience, engine hoists don’t move all that well when you have an engine suspended, especially a V8.

Good luck getting the cart high enough, possible but I wouldn't risk damaging as accessory.
I've seen the engine cradles you speak of that are essentially a beefy cart. They're spot on for something like this .
A good cherry picker, flat garage, and a floor jack is all you need to remove this.
The cherry picker I used took this like a cake walk. I also used a harbor freight trans jack specifically for doing transmissions on jack stands. Unless yours is tiny, beatup/ doesn't roll for **** - then I could see a reason for concern .
EDIT: the engine sits on the cradle. There's 2 engine mounts .You won't clear it without dropping the cradle thus get the cradle ready to drop with another person with the engine supported. Unless you supported the engine With a engine brace and used the cart. Imo seems like extra work since you have to use a cherry picker with the engine anyway.
Don't mind the messy garage, that's also a work in progress.

I’ve got the same style cherry picker. I’ll have to pick up a trans jack like that one. Looks like you dropped everything, and then unbolted the engine from the trans before pulling the motor?
Headers can stay on?
