Default Mark Levinson head unit problem

So it's been about a couple weeks since i picked up my F and now the headunit is starting to act up. When I'm driving the music cuts off and comes back on. Then after a while there is no sound coming out of the speakers. Also noticed that if i try to raise or lower the volume as well as turn off and on the unit there is a delay. Does that mean the unit has to get replaced or can I try to disconnect the battery and take the unit out and reconnect everything? It's kinda driving me nuts so I would like to hear from others who had the same problem like this. Thanks

Sounds like the factory amp is going bad on you.

Were there a rain before? Wet streets? I have had similar issues when it's wet outside, radio sounds like it's bad reception? Does your volume buttons work? Volume ****?

My amp went out once and I got it replaced.....but the system in the F sounded like *** to me especially compared to the ml in the 08 LS I had. Ended up going aftermarket.

I wasn't happy with the ML features & SQ, I ditched it and replaced it with a Beatsonic kit and A Pioneer DD.

Same here. I like it but its not as good as the Harmon Kardon in my old M3, it was a noticeable difference

So the problem has been coming on and off with the sound. I had found a used radio unit on eBay out of an IS250 that had ML in it (P6500 on the face plate). Fingers crossed that it will solve my sound problem.

I hope I'm wrong, but highly doubtful that that'll fix your problem. 9 times out of 10 this problem will be caused by the amp. Maybe your situation will be the 1 out of 10....

My radio started to do this also.

Is intermittent. My BT wont connect. It says Audio OFF and wont let me turn on the radio, satellite. BT. The displays works but noticed that it doesn't beep when touching the screen or buttons. When it connects, sometimes will just cut off, sometimes turns back on. One day, and this pissed me and worried me the most, the AC didnt work with the same symptoms. Oh, and onece when I put the car on reverse the backup camera didnt came up.

I had installed a Beatsonic bypass and thought it was that, but removed it and started doing the same again a day after. Call Lexus but was told they need to be able to replicate the issue to troubleshoot/repair/replace. So Im waiting to the unit to finally crap out. Hopefully it does before my warranty runs out.

Since today is Saturday, I will be going by my buddy's place and we will swap the unit and see what happens. It's no fun driving a fast car and not having some good beats playing when driving. Yesterday the sound was working fine all day which had surprised me.

Guys, also check your speaker, if you have a bad one that crackles. The AMP and system will go in a safe mode type which will cut off the volume when you increase it. I had this issue when I cranked up the volume to about 45-50 range and music goes off. I thought it was the ML amp, however after i disconnected my bad speaker (The center dash one). the Issue went away and I am able to crank it up with no issues.

I had the same problem in my old IS250 and changed the amp. Didn't fix the problem was still cutting out. jdm_altzza comment makes sense. I never found the problem just sold the car when the stereo was working good. Hehe.

Ditto. Amp. is more suspicious. Also it is easier to access than head unit in the dash.
