OEM for US, no. I’m not sure what that is. US batteries are “maintenance free” and don’t have those caps for DI water filling.

FYI in my experience Lexus OEM batteries are total crap. I never had one last to 2 years. Even though it was covered by warranty, I replaced my last dead Lexus battery with an Odyssey as I didn’t want to be left stranded again.

+3. I just replaced a 4th one with an Interstate a few days ago, which cost less than factory pro-rated.

The thing is if you zoom in on the battery pic its got Japanese writing all over it and in the maintenance record it hasn't been change, not bad for a 8 year old battery. Ok now that I said that watch it stuff out very soon

I think my original battery looked like this:

I definitely remember the little hole you look through to check it's condition. And I also remember the fill ports because I somehow got the impression they were there so you could refill it and the battery would last decades. After doing some research I figured out they need to be replaced just like any other battery. It died after 8 years. Don't quote me on it but I'm pretty sure it said Panasonic on the side of it.

I stole that image from some other thread on CL

Part #2880054231 They retail for $969.15? Holy crap.

The original on mine 2008 was a Panasonic brand battery if I'm not mistaken. I still have it sitting in my garage. I changed it for an Optima Red Top battery.

The OEM battery in every Toyota/Lexus I have purchased has been Panasonic. Disappointing so many here have had bad luck with them. Mine were almost universally awesome and lasted 5 to 7 years before getting the slow start blues. The Optima Red Top I put in my IS F was a big disappointment. Died just after the 36 month warranty and would not recover.

I just replaced the battery in my 2012 last week. It was Lexus/Toyota branded, wet battery with no fill ports on the top.

I just put in a interstate battery from autozone with a warranty and call it good. With the Vegas scorching desert heat, batteries don't last here more than 2-3 years anyway

I would only recommend gel batteries. I just replaced my Optima red top battery with another one. My amp drained it down to 8 volts last weekend but it was still able to electronically open the doors. A normal acid battery would not have unlocked the doors or kept giving the amp juice. Previous owner replaced the driver side doors after being side swiped and didn’t think to change the lock. If I had a normal battery I would have had to call a tow truck or a locksmith on a Sunday after drill and pray I’d be able to have them open the door just so I could jump start it. That alone made it worth the extra few bucks in never having to worry about being stranded like that.

This reflects my experience as well. The battery is wifey's 2007 IS 350 (no longer owned) lasted 7 years. The one in my 2010 IS-F just got switched out after almost 8 years.

^^^^.......A local ISF owner here has one and he hasn't had any issues with it! A great way to lose like 40lbs off the front end

In 150k miles of ownership of my IS-350, the *only* thing to ever fail on me was... the battery. THREE TIMES. They would all last magically one to three months past 24 month warranty. Dismal. Being located at the rear of a very cramped and hot engine bay does not help. Heat kills batteries.

They're great! Based on specs though, they appear to be a Shorai LiFePo with a fancy aluminum case for ~2x the price... I picked up the Shorai version, dropped 38lbs and the trash OEM battery, and haven't looked back. Don't leave your lights/radio on forever, though, as they don't have quite the static capacity and do get a little finicky in cold weather. Just turn on your lights a few minutes to warm them up a bit before starting if it's a really cold morning. We had some 20F weather in TX last month, and while it struggled a little, my F cranked fine without the warm-up trick:

Best price I found was $25 cheaper here, and received excellent service: http://www.pdi-racing.com/shorai-inc...-lfx36l3-bs12/

Enjoy,
Nick
