Any motor engineer knows that tuned equal length long tube headers make more torque and power than short tube unequal length headers full stop. Talk to any GOOD engine builder.

is youre in so-cal you could go to the upcoming F meet at Lexus Escondido. I'm sure someone there will be running them.

You may be right on that aspect........ but, nobody has produced any dyno sheets (even PPE) that have shown any HP/TQ gains with the regular EL headers and the long tube EL headers that PPE produces?Originally Posted by isfvss

The only thing that people have noticed is that EL headers do smooth out the exhaust flow compared to the UEL headers and therefore get rid of some of the drone/frequencies that affect the UEL headers.
If I'm wrong I stand corrected, but I haven't seen anything on CL to show the gains between what is being sold through PPE currently?
Lou, want to chime in as I know you have had both versions?

With PPE's standard, unequal length headers, PPE single mode exhaust with high flow cats, the original RR tune, & Joe Z intake, I've run a best speed of 118.54 in the quarter (or 400 m Rest of World).
With PPE's equal length long tube long tube headers and no cats, my best speed has been 117.75 mph. It was 7 degrees cooler that day.
The above empirical evidence suggests the long tube equal length headers did not increase the performance of my car. But then also consider the following:
My best et with the first setup was a 12.245 (1.94 60'). And I've run a best 12.109 with the 2nd setup, with a 1.92 60'.
IIRC, all of the off the shelf tunes were developed on F's running short tube unequal length headers. I'd imagine I could get that extra 10th or more with an ecu tune developed on a car running a long tube equal length design.
To the OP, forget sound clips. Get yourself to a get together and actually ride in an IsF with headers and an exhaust to determine what it really sounds like. Try to ride in an RcF or GsF with headers, there are both equal length and unequal length designs made for these cars as well. In this case, live music is really the only way to hear how much drone and dissonance occur with the unequal lengths and an exhaust with a light load @ 1600 - 2000 rpm. I could not believe the difference, even when removing the cats.
Just my $.02. And always remember, your results may vary.

Corrected for truth. Lots of other variables can be confounding to what is well known to work. It always comes back to the three C's - carbs, cams, compression. Nowadays, we lost the carbs so it's intake/tune, cams, compression. Someday we will have computer actuated valves and it will be intake, tune, compression...Originally Posted by isfvss
