Good morning IS-F friends. I was looking for a DIY on dashboard removal/reinstall, but am not having any luck. Mine was reinstalled crooked by Lexus of Mobile when they did the airbag recall and I'd like to see if correcting it is something I can tackle myself.
I searched the forums (including all of the IS250/350 forums), youtube, and google, but I may have missed something since I am a bit out of practice on CL .
^ I wish it was. They are 150 miles away from me and I have no time to take off work to do so. I suppose I could leave at 5 AM on a Saturday, but the idea of wasting half my weekend and driving 300 miles to fix their screwup doesn't appeal to me either.
I also really don't want to deal with this dealership again since this isn't their screwup working on my car.
Well I'm glad I saw this because I didn't realize they would have to take the entire dash out to replace the airbag equipment. I guess I should remove my dash cam wiring and my VAIS wiring so they don't end up screwing that up. Pain in the ***.
Typically there are two panel covers on each side of the dash that you can pop off and get access to the dash bolts. There are many more bolts including behind the radio. Is the entire dash off or just one side? You may be able to losen up a few of the easy access bolts and readjust it.

I did take the side panel off but didn't see any obvious route to go on, hence wanting to look at a DIY first. I'll only do it if it is relatively simple as I don't want to make my problems worse.
It is only on the passenger side. It is raised up on the edge closest to the windshield about 5mm. I noticed on my way home (it was a Saturday after their service dept closed) and at first thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, but it is obvious now, and bothers me every time I drive the car. In addition to that, the passenger side A-pillar interior trim piece wasn't reinstalled properly and just sort of hangs there with a gap exposing the things behind it (they destroyed a clip when reinstalling it). This also wasn't obvious at first, but after driving over a few bumps and opening/closing the passenger door a few times, it was. It will not stay in place.
The dealer took out my dash to replace the airbags, it definitely is a long procedure and a lot of room for error. They broke one of the pieces of the center console, but the dealer caught it and ordered a replacement. I would definitely check prior to leaving the dealership for any errors. Sadly the loaner was an ES350, I was hoping to drive an RC.
I feel as though my center speaker cover doesn't quite sit flush anymore after the fix. But, they also noted that they would go in through the radio opening...who knows. At my dealership they take your car and it disappears completely from sight and you have no way of knowing what they are doing to it.
As expected the dealer wouldn't do anything for my situation. Trying to say that it was a coincidence that my nav worked prior to but not after warranty work. f%&* Kuni Lexus of Greenwood Village in CO if anyone cares.
I had my airbag recall done and the navi antenna wire was not connected.....It was responsive, but obviously drifting and could not lock in.
It was actually sucked up into the center stack vent routing when they put the dash back in. I removed the stereo to confirm that it was not attached, and then could not find the plug.
I located the wire (which was barely exposed and not really visible), I was able to fish it back out and plug it back in, everything is now fine.
The time to remove the dash and replace the airbag in Canada is 2.5 hours on this recall.
Im considering removing the dash myself before my appointment. I dont think I've ever had anything done at the dealership that didnt result in some sort of additional issue adterwards, which is why i avoid them like the plague. I still havent done the ELF recall : S
