Default Help: Squealing from front of engine

Hi guys, I have an intermittent loud squeal from the front of the motor that increases/decreases with engine RPM. I'm thinking rotating part, probably a bearing failing on a idler pulley or accessory pulley. The car has 73,200 miles and is an '08. It had the water pump done at 35,000mi so that has been addressed. I have experienced it when hot or cold. So I took it to the dealer to investigate and OF COURSE on those 2 days they had it they could not reproduce it.
This URL will take you to a video of it.

Any thoughts as to where it is coming from?

TIA, Andy

Have you gone in front and have someone rev it to pin point where it is coming from? My guess is water pump pulley or tensioner pulley.

Mine wasn't that loud - I had my tensioner assembly replaced.. It was also intermittent and it took a separate dealer to diagnose it. They can always replicate it, but I think it depends on the time commitment they'll put into it.

it really sounds like a pulley.....which one is the question , mine has just started doing something just like that.....i have not looked to see if there is any visible signs of anything, but suspect the belt tension pulley is the one squealing

Belt might be too tight, have it checked. My Toyota Highlander had this problem and after a quick adjustment it went away. (3.3L V6 motor)

Our cars have "self adjusting" belt tensioners.
But yeah I agree, a pulley is a suspect. Would be easy to determine with a Stethoscope.

If it's when you shift it's the tensioner OR AC. I'm trying to work with Lexus extracare . They said it's either the AC or the tensioner. Because they couldn't put their finger on it I am replacing the tensioner for the second time on Monday and if it comes back then they said they will replace the AC compressor. It's a cheap fix. I will Crete a thread if and when they replace he AC . It's a cheap fix and frustrating that I have to pay to fix something to narrow down the diagnosis but it's cheap
