anyone getting the grom vline?

Apple standard cables are not always working in the car for high speed transfer.
I suggest trying shorter cable or good brand like Belkin. We also have our cables fully tested with CP:

genuine apple
amazon basics
anker power line
the amazon and anker are 3 foot cables, apple is a bit longer
All exhibited pixelization during my 45 minutes or so of on and off driving.
I was hopeful the cable would do the trick, but it doesn't appear to be the case unless all 3 of these cables don't work ..... (I have these in my car because my kids need to keep their phones charged at all times
)
How did you connect to the VLine port ? Did you use extension supplied ? Try connecting short USB cable directly and let me know the results.

im using super good cables, same problem. problem for me only occurs on intial load. goes away if you go out of carplay to grom, and come back in. anything that forces the screen to redraw.
mine does the same thing and I have to get out of CarPlay and get back in for the screen to work correctly.
I read the threads ... And see many problems that occurs with the device. Would be interested if it finally becomes stable. Have a 2011 IS250 with premium luxury package but infotainment already looks outdated... And no real possible upgrade...except GROM Vline. Factory Maps and navi update are way too expensive an useless..
Question ? Does (Grom) build their box with solid Japan made or Usa made components inside or China electronics components ? Just asking.
I bought an Android tv box with similar/ superior specs for 150$USD last year. It's a Android PC too...
Asking also because the device won't be in a garage. Outside means more diff. weather Conditions..
Electronics components speaking country of origin is most of the time a key element. Durability. Reliability performance etc. We talk about 699$USD if I'm correct for their Vline Lexus Gen. 6 navi solutions ?. It's not peanuts ! It has to be just perfect and solid and reliable for a long period of time. Not only for 18 months as per their warranty statement.
..Then I will buy one. I'm a IT person and can understand the diff. Between beta tester and a released product.
Is it just the bests Japan or Usa technologies Inside the box ?
Am I going to loose some of my steering wheels buttons ? Like" Mode" " Next". "Previous item" "Take phone calls" "Hangup"
I alreay have Lexus Factory Mics installed and working perfectly. Need to replace them ?

All factory controls will keep working
Factory mic will work fine with Handsfree still. For VLine voice control you will need extra mic.
I was having issues with my original firmware.
I updated today with the OTA method and the unit seems more responsive and fixed the failure to boot loop i had.
Bluetooth audio improved
The thump at the beginning improved (didn't go away)
Overall the unit seem more responsive
Maps were faster to calculate a route
Google voice seems to work
Red voice command does not ask you if you want to make a call (which was impossible)
DashLinQ audio plugin picks up amazon music song title
There is a back button now (drove me crazy before)
No issues with bluetooth audio in the few minutes i tested (had some before)
Booted everytime (I had a 50% failure to boot rate before)
I like the side control bar much better now
The rearview camera cycle is still off, when I put the car in reverse, then on drive it goes to the map, if i put the car in reverse again goes to the Vline instead of the camera and continues to cycle on the 3 options.
Still to try is carplay and long term use, i just tested for about 20 mins after the OTA update.
So far i'm happy with the unit, allows me to keep the OEM system and add bluetooth A2DP and google maps, that's sufficient for me.

Does anyone of you experience volume issues?
For me, in Carplay the turn by turn voice instructions in Apple Maps are much louder than Apple music.
The difference is so big that in reality I can't really have both on at the same time (if I turn music volume high enough, the voice instructions are so loud that I'm shocked every time I get an instruction).
I did adjust the Apple Maps volume in my iPhone settings to low, but it's still way to loud.
Thanks

Im having the opposite problem - my directions are too quiet.
Ill go outside and give it a try real quick.
EDIT: So I was right to a fault. When I had the mustang, AND when Siri gave voice direction prompts, IF I adjusted the volume on the Mustang dial WHILE hearing Siris prompts, it would change the volume for Siri in relation to Carplay.
Unfortunately, afaik, there is no volume control link between the OEM Lexus audio system and Carplay (we're adjusting amp volume not Carplay volume).
So how do you fix this?
Well, my guess would be this - stop by a car dealership (like Ford) and bring a USB cable. Ask to sit in a car to check out carplay. Make your adjustment to Siris volume (WHILE SIRI IS TALKING) during the demo, and then you should be good when you get back to your car.
Quite a nifty solution eh? (pulls out gun and points it to head while waiting for next Vline broken update)
just to point out - ive been yelling at Grom to focus on Carplay over their android interface and they havent been making it a priority. I, like most other users, couldnt begin to care about the Android interface. JUST GIVE US ROCK SOLID CARPLAY AND DO THE ANDROID BIT AS A SIDE PROJECT.
