Default Engine leak

So I was looking at my engine bay today and realised there's some fluid leaking from on top of my engine (passenger side) and I'm guessing it's engine oil.

now the car just had the 60k service done last week and I told them to change the spark plugs which they did but would they have had to remove this part to access the spark plugs?

Looks like a faulty gasket gasket to me, is this common? The car hasn't thrown any codes on my dash but when checking tech stream I got this lovely collection of error codes (pic at the end). I've cleared the codes and will wait to see if they come back up.

any input is appreciated.

For the leak, it just looks like the valve cover gasket seeping.

The rubber gasket overtime hardens up and will cause a leak. Just a wear and tear item.

How many miles are on the car?

So you're telling me this is normal and many ISF's get leaks like this?? I haven't come across anyone over here with a similar leak.

Car has just had it's 60k km service last week.

C'mon guys I'm sure someone must have had to deal with something like this. Esp if it's a wear and tear issue.

Hey Defratis, I just replaced my spark plugs a few weeks ago myself and the to your question is NO, those part do not have to be removed. When changing spark plugs to access and remove coil packs is simple. On pass side you remove battery plus tray, fuse box and bracket in front of battery and lossen up bracket move out way that's it pretty much for pass side on drivers side even easier just matter of two things out way to achieve access coil packs. Fid you check this area prior to spark plug change abd if yes and no Oil present go back have them perform detailed inspection something happened between time of spark plug change and now.

Are you sure it's an oil leak? I think you should try to clean it up as much as possible and monitor it for some time. Do you do your oil changes? Unless I'm looking at the pic wrong, it looks like the fuel rail also has oil on it. Someone might have spilled some oil or something.

Tbh I didn't notice this before the spark plug change, but I won't boil it down to them being responsible as they've been pretty good in terms of service during the past few years.

Good question, it might not be leaking and as you've said could just be some spilt oil. I'll try and clean it up and see if any residue comes back.

I don't do my oil changes myself, the dealer would have done this last week.

As for the fuel rail, it has marks because I installed the RR breather pipes and touched the fuel rail with my hand but it didn't leave any oil just seemed to clean up the dirt that was on the pipes.

I'll give the area a quick clean and keep an eye on any further leaks.

Engine oil seems good so doesn't seem to be leaking engine oil, or maybe just not leaking enough to cause a problem.

I'll see and update the thread later.

The only obvious thing that I can see if a gap between the rubber gasket which seems to point to where the leak is coming from. I won't really know unless I clean it up and keep an eye on it.

It definitely looks like it's coming from somewhere other than the valve cover gasket; I'm leaning towards spilt oil. I don't see any sweating around the bolts or the usual black residue if it was the valve cover gasket. Plus your car is relatively low mileage at 60K kms (not miles).

Definitely looks like a seeping valve cover. I would just keep an eye on it. Check again on your next oil change.

That would classify as a "seepage" or "sweating". Most warranty work won't cover it until it actually leaks. Best course of action would be to clean that area really well, and check again after driving it for a week or two

Buy a can of degreaser and go spray off your engine real good so it's clean, then monitor the area of concern and anything new if so will be an active leak, if not then it was spilt oil or something and nothing to worry about.
