I have another techicheal question regaurding a irregular but constant ticking in the motor only or after the oil is at normal operating temp. Up till then she purrs like leather! It takes me driving normal about 7-9 minutes for the oil to reach normal temp... 3 bars on the dash display. Does this happen to anyone else? The dealer thought it could be the fuel injectors. Really?

Ticking noise is normal with these cars, they are probably right about it just being injectors. It freaked me out when I first got the car as well, I knew about the ticking just not how loud and noticeable it actually is.

The three bars is normal. There are a number of factors as to how long it takes to get to three bars. How hot is it outside? How hard are you driving? Stop and go traffic or highway? All those answers will contribute to how long it takes to get to three bars. Under normal street driving, my car normally takes 3-5 minutes to hit three bars on an 80 degree day in SoCal.

As the others have mentioned, the ticking is normal for these cars, it's just a characteristic of the direct injection system.

It takes my car 5-10 minutes of driving at 45 mph and 3-5 mins at 70 > from cold. (I live 1 mile from I-85). This is at 75° - 80° but other variables may change the warm up.

Like everyone has already mentioned, it sounds like everything is working as designed. Direct injection creates loud ticking because of the high pressure that the injectors operate at.

Now if you get the ticking noise extremely loud on cold start up you might have the header fracture that happens on higher mileage cars, but if it's only when the car is warm then you're fine.

It takes a while for the oil to warm up.

I always take it easy until the oil is fully warms up.
