Yeah, thanks for the advice! Definitely glad I didn't pay someone to do it, frees up more cash for car parts

Also, K20 as in RSX? I upgraded from a 2006 Type S to the IS F

Good job. I ran into some huge bird on the freeway at full speed and put a huge dent in my ES300 plastic bumper. I pushed the dent out from behind by just applying a heat gun to it.

Good job didnt know how old this thread was and/or looking back at my grammar. Yes kseries engine. I just did this to an isf front bumper with big dent on the side from hitting a curb pulled it out 100%. You can unbutton the splash guard and reach in with a towel with pressure or something while using the heat gun for more effective repair I had to do it multiple times but it works great giving appropriate rest periods as to not heat the paint too much to where it would crack.

What a coincidence somewhat relevant repair with more paint damage than dents, but there were small dents that easily formed back to original behind the black paint transfer, owner thought he was repainting, but little did he know 95% of it was just paint transfer + small dent which pulled out 100% looks original other than slight paint damage on the bottom which would be a perfect area for touch up paint.

+1 for lexus quality

So who do I believe, you or the other guy on the Internet?

Do what you need to do in order to get the job dont then you wont have to believe anyone but yourself.

But common sense leads to me to believe, pouring hot water on a car could cause damage that could be avoidable using a heat gun since you can control how hot it will get.

I would use a heat gun since most have a temp control so easier to set how hot you want/need it.
With water you need a water heater/kettle to boil it to your temp and then pour it over the area.
Water sound messy and less control.
