As I recall, nothing other than disconnecting the side marker lights.

The hidden screws, which you accesses through the wheel well. They are shown in the illustration on extreme edge of the bumper.

Default I just replaced the front bumper cover on my 2002 RX300

Besides the screws mentioned, there is a plastic clip just forward of the hidden screw with one of those one-way fingers that engages the second mounting ear on the top rear of the bumper cover. You might be able to slide a shim or long thin screwdriver to push it up but I wound up breaking it (accidentally) so had to temporarily install the bumper with this damaged clip. It is difficult to remove the clip without damaging the fingers that hold it on to the fender metal. I will be making a trip to the dealer to see if I can find it. I believe it is referred to as 'bumper cover, clip, side'.

EDIT: part number is 90959-01577 - described as CLAMP on Lexus invoice. $13.43 OTD :-(

Hey jagalchi88, I know this is quite an old thread, but can you share how your front bumper cover replacement went? Any additional tips you can share beyond the screws and such mentioned so far? I am about to do the same, and would appreciate any advice.

Also, did you end up needing to replace the plastic clip that @rickpark mentioned?

There is nothing 'one time use' part. If the clip is damaged/deformed then replace it.

Understood, but the reason I was asking the OP is to get a better sense of whether that clip broke (as another post suggested it has the propensity to do) during this repair procedure. That way I know whether to buy a new clip and have it ready and available before I start.

I removed and installed the bumper skin to add push bars in early years of the vehicle. The plastic was fairly pliable and I had no issues. It is so hard to predict if yours will break or not. The amount of bending will depend upon how you handle the skin. Having 2 ppl would limit the bend. I would take a gamble and see it it breaks. If it does, call your local dealership and most likely they will have the part at hand or worst case can get the part to you in 2 days. You may find the part cheaper some where else [preorder] but when you include shipping and handling fee, it might be worth picking up form the dealer. On the other hand if you are already ordering parts [shipping would be free for the clip] then simply decide on the price.
