I stumbled across this snapshot of me running an MBUSA autocross event in my 1985 Mercedes W123 300D today. I figured it would be fun to ask you guys what car you ran your first event in and post up a picture! She was one fat girl but even in the rain cornered surprisingly well for a 4000lb cone killer!
No pictures handy but I have autocrossed or tracked every car I've owned.
First was 1983 VW GTI....loved getting up on 3 wheels in the turns. Then an 1986 Acura Integra followed by a 2002 IS300 which helped me tear up the STX class and my son now drives. And of course the current beast 2008 ISF....hmm mm what's next?
Like you Zach, I went out in a big sloppyish sedan. My 1994 Q45t. So much fun, me and some of my friends went 4 deep and had the AC on and tinted windows up, autox mafia style.
Ran my first autocross and track events in the NSX back in 2005. This pic was from my last track day at the Streets of Willow in 2007. Been a long time but will get out on the track again one day.
eventually started road racing in chump car with some my s2000 buddies shortly after.
24 hours at Pike Peak International Raceway - Finished 5th
12 and 6 hr at High Plains Raceway - Finished 5th and 7th out of 41 cars
been out to the track with FFigs a couple times but have yet to track the F. Maybe some day. Can flog the s2k around all day without any heating issues. That's my biggest concern with tracking the F.
