While I was on my way to the Summit Point for a track weekend last month a CHECK SYSTEM warning light came on. I checked the code at the first Advance Auto I came across and found the codes "c0210 ABS Right Rear Speed Sensor CURRENT" and "c0215 ABS Left Rear Speed Sensor CURRENT". With the check system light on I couldn't use cruise control. I was worried that I didn't have rear ABS function, but after performing a few high speed threshold braking tests everything felt stable...so I continued and did a full 8 track sessions over the next 2 days.
The check system light came on within 40 miles of mounting new aftermarket wheels and tires. The check system light would usually go away after the car had sat for a day, but would come back on after 10-20 miles of driving.
My tags have just expired and I need to pass emissions now. I put my stock rear wheels back on so that I can avoid the codes and pass the Maryland OBDII emissions check. Everything was fine, but the check system light just came on for the first time with the stock rear wheels mounted (and before I could pass emissions)...though it took 150+ miles of driving before the check system light came on.
Does anybody have advice for fixing this? I would love to avoid purchasing new speed sensors, which seem to run $150+ each.
A quick internet search showed one Toyota SUV owner mostly fixed the problem by removing and cleaning the speed sensors and then dielectric greasing the connectors and coating the outside with silicon. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.
had a similar situation with a buddy's brz. after a few track sessions the abs threw a code. we pulled, cleaned and reset with techstream. no issues so far :knock on wood:
I'm going to try going through emissions today with the check system light on. I was thinking about it and realized why would a system code keep me from passing an emissions check? I guess we'll see.
Unsure, but it may be related... depending on the new ride height on the new set of wheels. There is a ride height sensor on the rear driver side on the lower control arm. Has a slot to adjust the sensor up or down. This was also on a is250 awd. I would assume the F has the same. Just a trouble shoot though. Doesn't have anything to do with a speed sensor but the IS can throw all kinds of warning lights from something completely different from what the info display say. Perhaps.the rear wheels are making far less roration than the front causing the sensore to be unmatched and throwing a red flag for the speed sensor ?
I've never heard anybody else complain of this issue though and I am not lowered nearly as much as some other owners. Also there shouldn't be any difference in wheel revolutions because I went to a square setup so all wheels are turning equally.
Reseat the connector. You can't clean the wheelspeed sensor, it is sealed in the hub, so if reseating the connector does not work, you are buying a new hub. I'd be examining the wire carefully too. Any damage to it can cause the issue you are having.

Thanks. I'll take a look this weekend when I get some time.
