Hey guys, are all IS-F's ebrakes mushy? I can literally press it to the floor with very little resistance, and I'm not quite sure it grabs anything to be honest. Anything I can do for this?

There are two adjustments. One is at each wheel. If you are familiar with adjusting drum brakes, it's a cakewalk. The other is at the pedal. It's not hard, but it's not exactly easy either. I adjusted at the pedal and mine works adequately, but would benefit from some fine tuning with the individual wheel adjustments.

Guess this is a common problem, I had the rears individually adjusted but still mushy so ill have to do it from the pedal. Hopefully this fixes it.

My history with Toyota is long - starting in 1988 with a GTS Corolla. Every new Toyota I have owned has required fine tuning on the e-brake, throttle (when they used to have wires), and brake pedal. None of them came from the factory with what I consider a well adjusted system. The F is the first Toyota product I have owned with the brake pedal properly adjusted from the factory. My Supra needed brake, clutch, throttle (it would not go WOT from the factory), and e-brake adjustments.

I don't consider this a quality issue because the car works as delivered (except my '93 GTS Celica which did not sufficiently brake enough to lock the wheels when it was delivered) and it isn't hard to adjust these things to suit me. I've also had to bend the accelerator pedal linkage to make heel/toe work easier, but again, this is personal preference.

I'd say if the only thing on the F needing adjustment is the e-brake, we're doing pretty well.

u can test it by engage the parking brake on level ground and place vehicle into drive. if it moves it needs adjusting. or you can do it on an incline.

you also have to remember the ebrake cable is a braided metal line and it does stretch overtime as more uses are applied. it should be adjusted as a maintenance item
