People seriously scared to bolt 3 machined pieces together. There's no science to it, just make sure the hardware hasn't been over torqued and re-use torqued to spec in a star pattern as you go around to each bolt. Wheel companies selling snake oil if they got people believing it takes a "professional" to bolt some **** together.

If you think about their position, you'll understand pretty quickly why they tell owners to send the wheels for rebuild. If you assemble your own wheel, there is zero warranty, but there are those who would attempt to make invalid warranty claims anyway. If you assemble your own wheel, but can't distinguish between a #1 and #2 phillips head, and the wheel comes apart, the wheel company will be sued because their product failed. We both know when someone who lacks the skills assembles something poorly, failure is likely, and in our litigious society, that means another law suit for the company making the wheels.
They're not selling snake oil, they're trying to protect themselves from risk.
True, but of all companies ADV1 is laughable when you speak in terms of warranty and customer care. Quick google search yields a pretty rough history, among many of these boutique wheel companies.
Warranty on a wheel is almost impossible anyway on a street car and am surprised if any of them do outside of cosmetic flaws.
I run ADV.1 on all my cars, always have. Their customer care and quality on my products have been 2nd to none. Lifetime structural warranty, 3 year finish warranty, 3 year seal warranty... that's more than HRE or anyone else does.
And from what i've heard re-bolting a 3-piece back together isn't as simple as you think. Yes it's simple in theory.... you're tightening 40 bolts together but if the bolts aren't properly lubricated you can get an incorrect torque value leaving you open to over or under tightening the bolts which are either going to result in air leaking, bolts shattering, or bolts loosening up and coming out. Can't imagine why a company would want to ensure it's done correctly so people don't die.
The only people spouting the quality concerns are those people with no first or even second hand experience with the product or company. In the day and age of google and forums if the quality and customer service was so poor there would be a lot more than 1 thread on M3post from 5 years ago.
I'm glad you've had positive experiences. If you're unaware of their past then I don't have anything positive to add so will leave it at that.
GThaus is a prime example. Sure their products are great now, but doesn't change the fact that Eisenmann dumped them as a distributor when they got caught selling knock offs of their products to unsuspecting customers. People don't forget.
