Default question for 2011 owners

when you hit the auto up on your power window switch, do your windows slow their roll (as in decrease speed) towards the end, right before they close all the way?

just curious, as i saw this in 2014 and was just wondering what year they put that in the window actuator or whatever its called, it was a nice touch imo, my 2008 just all the door windows just slam closed, ha

2009:

Variable Speed Control

General

The variable speed control minimizes the occurrence of noise during the power window open/close
operation by changing the operating speed of the power window regulator motor assembly.

Opening Power Window
In order to minimize the noise when the power window open function starts operating, the power window
ECU accelerates the window opening speed within approximately 30 mm (1.2 in.) of the window fully closed position.

In order to minimize the noise when the power window is opened fully, the power window ECU
decelerates the window opening speed within approximately 80 mm (3.1 in.) of the window fully open
position.

The power window ECU stops the power window just before it reaches fully open position of the power window regulator assembly to minimize the noise when the window is opened fully.

Closing Power Window
In order to minimize the noise when the power window close function starts operating, the power window
ECU accelerates the window closing speed within approximately 30 mm (1.2 in.) of the window fully open position.

In order to minimize the noise when the power window is closed fully, the power window ECU
decelerates the window closing speed within approximately 80 mm (3.1 in.) of the window fully closed
position.

Correct. It would be a BEAN ECU feature for subsequent model years. Swapping in a later model BEAN ECU would add this feature.

89211-53010 (12/2007 - 07/2010) COMPUTER, MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY

89211-53030 (08/2010 - ) COMPUTER, MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY

It might not work with just plug and play, they changed a number of things at this transition. I'd personally like to get a LHD Euro-spec unit to get the auto roll up on the windows.

No, none of the US models auto roll up when you hold the lock button on your key fob. If you hold unlock, all the windows roll down and the sunroof opens. Great idea to let the heat out of the car when it has been sitting in the sun in the summer time. Anywhere else in the world, you can hold the lock button down and close all that ish. Not in the US. Lexus's lawyers know Americans are too stupid to be trusted with windows capable of rolling up on their own. For sure some complete imbecile will stick a hand out the window and get it caught. Except all the windows have a failsafe so they can't do this. But the lawyers are not engineers. They're the same idiots who are obsessed by 13 fatalities being very poorly blamed on a faulty ignition switch choice (C&D has a great article on this). The same idiots who bilked Scion/Toyota/Lexus for "unintended acceleration" when engineering testing could not duplicate the problem, and all the known cases were clearly elderly people. The same idiots who made Audi 5000 a bad name in the US because people were pressing on the gas and thinking it was the brake.

But I digress...
