Angry What am I doing wrong

So I ordered a set of black pearl emblems from Sewell ---> http://is.sewellparts.com/accessorie...2013/2026.html

Now it says that it includes the front grill emblem.

I've already installed all the other emblems and now when it comes to the front grill, after finally taking out the grill and surround I realise that the front grill emblem from Sewell is different from the OEM one.

For stars it's slightly smaller than the OEM one, and secondly the OEM emblem has two pins at the top of the emblem and one clip at the bottom to hold it in place.

The Sewell one looks identical to the OEM rear emblem, it's the same size and has the two pins on the sides as apposed to having them on the top and no clip on the bottom. It does have 3M tape but will that hold it place? and I can't see anywhere where the 3M tape will actually make contact with the grill once i remove the OEM emblem.

So did Sewell send me the wrong part? or am I missing something here?:

Pics below for reference:

The emblem you ordered is correct but you have the active sonar/hybrid emblem so it will not fit onto your grill. You will need to buy a regular grill to make the emblem fit.

And you can sell your stock grill to me, Ill happily take that grill/emblem you have off your hands.

Yeah GCC spec ISF's come with that radar thing in front.

Is this how the OEM front grill looks like? https://www.clublexus.com/forums/att...k-pa250767.jpg

and why do I have a different emblem, it doesn't make sense because if anything it'll block the radar view in front.

you have a different emblem because of radar.. if you take off the stock emblem/change grill to non radar you'll disable the radar but you'll get a cooler looking emblem lol

That sucks.

Why would changing the grill disable the radar? Doesn't seem logical

The current emblem should block the radar out because it's completely filled in compared to the non radar emblem

Is the radar attached to the emblem or sits right behind the emblem? (which is why the emblem is hallow in the back?) I was always under the assumption that the emblem is expensive because the radar sits right behind it and may be attached to it. I'm not sure, but you should verify if thats the case.

I'd keep the stock emblem with the dynamic active radar. I also have it and I love the look and larger size.

You can just have the entire plastic encased "L" slightly spray smoked....

Or they make smoked clear bra too...

No the radar is not attached the emblem, it just sits behind it.

I'm thinking now of just putting a light tint film on top to make it slightly darker.

Would help you out but now it looks like I'll be keeping it since it's a hassle to change with the radar.

I am not sure if the emblem is anything like the Subaru ones, let alone I am not sure if you have the ***** to do this but nonetheless here's a DIY that may be of interest.

^ Looks like an interesting Idea, but I don't think it'll work with the OEM emblem that I have, it looks much thicker than the Subaru one and it has a sort of glass front face so it'll be hard to do.

I'm going to just place a light tint over the whole emblem, it should give me the same effect.

Thanks for the help everyone.
