Default Headlight issue

So I have an 08 IS-F, I recently took it in for an oil change and the night of one of my headlights went out. It will flick on and then right back off again. If I leave the the one on and turn it off and back on again quickly the other one will come on and stay lit for about 2 mins and then go back off. Is this a ballast issue? bulb? As a side note they told me I should start considering battery replacement, I know that HID's require a lot of power upon start-up but I thought they required very little afterward. Thanks in advance.

best diagnosis is to swap the bulbs and see if the problem follows. only other advice I can offer is to buy phillips bulbs when it's time for replacement.

^^^ This what i'd do first. Swap the bulbs, if its still does it then might be the ballast. It's a bit hard swapping ballast but i'd check it. A pair of bulbs cost you $110+ from amazon and ballast bout $230+ brand new. Just start eliminating possible issues. Process of elimination.
