Transmission Reliability
I need advice!
I am approaching 70k warranty end and I am not sure if I trust the F transmission. I am considering trading it in on a car I can maintain and repair cheaper if needed. My trust issues come from what I feel is a slight slip when the car is cold. Do you guys feel this too? Dealer says nothing is wrong (Sewell Lexus) but I dont want to spend 10k to replace a tranny,
Unfortunately I bought the car only a year ago and wasnt eligible for lexus extended warranty. I could buy an aftermarket warranty but not if I want to. (Ive heard stories of many denied claims)
Anyone else besides Just F me have tranny issues or concerns?

As many know i am one of the first serious F modders buying mine new in 08 and have all the motor mods available as they first came out... i have been threw dozens of bottles of nitrous runnning between 100-150 shot and not a blink of trouble. As Jermey Clarkson said "if your isf breaks il eat my lap top." i stand behind this firmly. i drag, highway and circuit my F along wth daily drive in the summer and i think your being anxious. This is the best built super sedan on the planet and the "cold start warm up is just part of your ecm programming" and is not hurting you transmission. And if one did go, you could pick one up off car-parts.com for under 5k and less than a few years old and have it swapped for under a 1000 easy at a small one or two man shop that knew what they were doing. Keep and enjoy your ISF for the long life its willing to give. Long life lexus!
Yep, not worried about it. My has done the hesitation or "slip" thing when it cold (usually that first 2nd-3rd shift after sitting in my garage all night) but that's it, and it has never worried me. I do not believe this is a sign of the tranny going out.
Agreed on the 3 or at a minimum 2 bars before hard driving too.

I always wait until its warmed up to drive hard. Not sure how that makes a difference here as everyone has stated this issue occurs when car is cold. Good advice all around though. I had confidence in it until F Me had his issues.
Sewell will get one final visit from me just before end of warranty to check the tranny. This way I would hope if it goes in the near future they would realize it was an issue before warranty ended.
