Question Swapping Steering Wheel Button Unit to Late-model Layout

Is it possible to swap the steering wheel buttons of an older ISF to a newer ISF?

Thinking of getting something like this (or even the OEM one):

The main reason I want this is so the 'Sport' button is within easy access (on earlier model IS-Fs, it's slow and cumbersome reaching behind the steering wheel to activate it).

I would assume that the wiring is different but can't say 100%.

Okay, so I called up my local Lexus service center (who have plenty of experience with Fs) and they said no it's definitely not a straight swap, and too much of a headache for one to even consider doing - messing around with the car's computer - stuff like that.

But if someone would beg to differ, I'm all ears...

This would be awesome if doable with minimum tinkering

My buddy's 2012 IS350AWD has the Power/Snow button right where ours are.. but hes only had to press Power once, it stays on all the time! Even when he turns the car off/on. I wish ours could do that, then no need to even move the button.
