Question Carbon Fiber Tips

So I was looking around for carbon fiber exhaust tips and found the Joe Z tips------> http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=3245

But are they serious it's for $9,999??

how is that even justifiable?

Even if you were willing to drop 10Gs on a set of muffler tips I think they would just refund you your money because if I recall correctly they had a problem with them getting damaged from excessive heat from the exhaust, in most cases while the car was under a heavy load at the track. Even worse if the exhaust is modified with headers, no cats, etc.. of course they were priced more reasonably in the past but I'm sure they are advertised as such to imply that they will return someday with better heat durability. PM the man himself, maybe Joe Z can give you a more accurate answer!

They were about 350.00 for the pair. As boma stated they started having cracking and yellowing problems from the excessive heat. They no longer produce them. I know a few people with sets of them if you want...

No way that sucks,

well it's either I try and source one of these from someone who already has them, or try and plastic dip them, I think the plastic dip works reasonably well from what I've seen.

Honestly plastidipping the tips is a real bargain, for about the same price as a venti frappuccino from Starbucks you can get a matte black look. It withstands heat, looks great, protects the chrome underneath, and the best part is that you can always dip it again if it ever wears off. I've had dipped tips for almost 7 months now and up to this day they look like new even under extreme conditions.

sweet, I think I'll be doing this real soon then.

Did you dip the entire tips? or just the outside on yours?

I just did the outside since most people won't see the entire assembly and because it is easier. I did 4 coats waiting 20 or so minutes inbetween.

I remember JoeZ mentioned on another thread that he was thinking of producing these again with revised materials... but i could be wrong? if the demand is high, im sure he would consider...

My tips are still holding up very well to the plastidip as well. I did inside and out and I have no mufflers or 2nd cat. About to throw headers on as well (as soon as they get here..come on PPE!)
