Well I purchased my F about a month ago from a private party. The car had a lien on it so my payment went straight to the bank. Once funds cleared the owner was nice enough to drive the car almost 6 hours to deliver it. I have been waiting on the title from his bank, however, they stated they never received one from the dealership the previous owner purchased the car from! He has had the registered for over a year. It's puzzling as to why the bank has yet to recover the title?
Well, my delima is I can not register the car in my state without the previous title. I am somewhat afraid that the dealership never paid the car off and maybe someone else still has a lien on it. I was given a notarized letter from his bank stating they released their lien but my DMV said that's not going to work
Any insight or has this happened to anyone before? I am not pissed at the previous owner because he is not at fault.
Start off by calling the DMV in the seller's state. They must have had a tittle to register it in the first place. And, I believe the previous owner must have a title (with a lien). But, as I said try the DMV first.
